Will the new RMK run right?

Will the 2011 800's run corectly?

There are so many other factors than just hp that come into play that make the sled feal powerful and to make the sled faster. My 130 hp 600 open mod sled was WAY faster than 90% of the 800's i raced with it including my 800 dragon. The hp amounts are bogus anyways, no one accounts for the hp that you have on the track at 10,000 feet. There is so much room for variables in the drive system, both clutches, how many miles the engine has, the fuel oil ratio that day, the type of oil, suspension set up, and i am sure many more.... Hell runing a diferent belt can change alot.

personally, I'm more worried about the durability of my front bumper and how slippery the rear one will be ;)

Right on! Me, I dont have the funds this time around and will have to wait until spring (at least) for any purchase.

But with the reports the new RMK is getting Polaris will have to go against the collective marketing intelligence of the last 50 years to sell a dudd this time.
Almost without exceptions people give this machine rave reviews on both handling, trail riding(!) and deep snow performance.

Sure, anything can happen, but how likely?? My money is on a good year for Polaris.

I agree. I'm sure that Polaris realizes there is no way that their company can survive in these tough times by putting out a sub par product. Polaris used to be number one in mountain sleds and has since slipped to number three. They want that number one spot back. With their recent history in quality, they have to suceed with the Pro or else forget it. They have hired many new people to design this sled and have invested a ton of money to build the best mod sled that can be a production model. Remember, it wasn't too many years ago that we would buy a sled and do major modifications to it just to get it to work in the deep. Now all three mfg's are making some of the baddest mod sleds ever seen. Six years ago, if you showed up on the mountain with one of these production sleds, you would of made the cover of Mod-Stock. Now any one can buy one. Just be happy that we can do that. Polaris will not fail this time around, they have to much invested. Hopefully, they won't make me eat crow.

Arctic cat put thier HP # out and i think there are # out on the Ski doo.Polaris knows what they have on HP # and they dont want to share.

Actually, historically, Polaris never has revealed their HP numbers until the 800 Dragon. That is the only time I can recall hearing HP from Polaris.

Did SLP show a dyno with a single pipe on it at 165? Can't remember clearly, but I think that's what they said.

Yeah, I know...it's a dyno.

I think Polaris said 05 900 149hp and 06 900 151hp.

From my sources, the new Polaris will not be a real power-house.

We will be focusing most of our season on getting some true "bolt on" power from this engine..We have teamed up with some pipe makers and will be developing custom heads that compliment the best pipe/pipe(s).. The goal is to not have to get into the engine. The air flow numbers on this engine are surprisingly strong. so, the engine can flow some serious air.. So, with some exhaust and head changes, this engine should do well (hopefully).. if we can not get there with bolt-on's... then we may have to take it to the next level...

For the new Pro it is a bunch of Welllll , Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The Dyno does not tell me a thing except what it dose in the shop. I will say I can't wait to find out, we had one trusting soul in our famialy that snow checked one. Can't wait to get it on the snow.

it will run great, we had one at are shop most of last year during the spring time, and we rode it hard when it left it had 1300 miles on it and still ran like new still tached 8200 rpm and the chassis felt strong no weak pionts or bends or cracks, the response was great still, it didnt show no signs of slowing down anytime soon, the pro will be the best backcountry mountain sled imo, i put on quite a few miles on it and it excelled in evry condition.

Booteddragon, what kind of milage did you get out of belts on it? Do you know if it was a production fuel map?

I will post a movie on youtube Soon.
We were racing an Cat8-10 and a NytroMCX 240 in spring conditions
the results were pretty good out of a stocker.:face-icon-small-hap
We ran it for 400 miles and no issues.
Fuel Milage (If anyone cares) Was way up from Dragon8.

THE BELT LIFE WITH NO VENTING ACUALLY WAS SUPRISING, THE BELT SEEMED TO STAY COOL AND AFTER LONG PULLS YOU COULD TAKE THE SIDE PANEL OF AND TOUCH THE BELT AND HAVE IT NOT BURN YOU. THEY SAID THIS SLED IS WHAT PRODUCTION WILL BE LIKE, THE MAPPING WILL BE THE SAME.

That is what I was told about the mapping also when I rode one. Was told all sleds had the same map and it worked well all around. Same map to be used for production.

talked to a guy today who said he spent about a month on a new rmk and he said the power ais the same as the 10's. IMO, i am excited for the season. the only thingi can see that scares me is a cast aluminum chassis.

If Obama doesn't get elected in 2012 I'll probably sno-check one for 2013.

I figure by 2013 they might actually have a motor that works.
