Why we ride???

I forgot one of the most important things...."The POW!!!""" Getting face shots, even while standing on your running boards! The perfect day with sun and 3-5' of new, Utah pow! It is like you are floating! Nothing like it! When I try to explain it to someone, especially someone who golfs, I tell them it is like a hole in one on a par 4! It will keep you coming back forever in search of another perfect day! Ha!

I get that question a lot!!

I almost feel like saying to those people that ask, "you wouldn't understand".
Similarly, i find myself saying the same thing when asked why I like bow hunting.
Personally, being a competitive person/life style, it fits well with my outlook on life. Looking back, at times, seems more like a disease of sorts. I for one moved cross country to ride the mountains/off trail.. Sno-Bull introduced me to it on a vacation and I haven't ever had the inclination to go back to trail riding. Two entirely different sports. Just like in life, you meet friends that you know you will defend and vice versa and go down/up anything to get to them. I think it is that bond that most drives my yearning to ride. Besides all the other obvious reasons. Ya think for a minute, the areas we get into and for those that are opposed to snowmobiling, they will never see these spots we get into.

I say the exact thing till you experience it you wont understand it. My wife said it best a week ago. As I sat gimped at the cabin my brother 2 friends and her went to ride. she came back and looked at me and said "I now know why you love doing this we saw the most beautiful views today and had so much fun!"

The thing that make this sport what it is though is the people, you all are a rare breed!

A sledder will drive a skier to the top of the hill he just came down. They will ask anyone if they need help who is sitting on the side of the trail and stop give parts or help fix if needed. They will take a buddy and pick him up when they are down. they will give you the gas on thier sleds if you run out! In all my years I have seen sledders do amazing things for strangers. I will say you guys have all changed the way i look at who i am:thumb:

Ill put my love of mother nature (Ocean Desert Mountain) against any tree hugger! It truly feeds my soul. Ive been into it my whole life. Ive probably walked more miles than Ive rode? Here lately if Im not riding Im sitting on my butt, my knees are shot, if im not on a four wheeler or sled I dont get to see it. Land closures are always on my radar. This is my drug and I am a addict! Im trying hard to infect my kids, so far so good! Wild places are a filter for lifes BS! Like Kimbro said when its done right there is not room for clutter. Ive heard God talk to me at 11,000' I can hear better when Im close to him! Now specific to sledding. Deep pow is as close to flight as us earth bound primates can get. Shutting the sled off and hearing the quiet of the fresh...Then going back in the summer and guess what NO TRACKS! Then the brothers! Man the good times are so much better when shared! The submarines that make you hold your breath and think...maybe this is to much? Naw it perfect. Even the summer jonze? What is not to love? The smell of 110 is pretty f ugging cool too!

Riding with the buds and loved ones! Frankly, this is probably #1 for me! Sharing this sport I love and am addicted to in the snow covered places I love doing it! I've made so many great memories! Climbing out of steep jungles I never thought were possible! Towing broken sleds for miles! Pulling sunken sleds out of lakes, draining the pipes and cylinders, re-inserting the plugs, starting the sled and ripping it again! DEEP, Snorkel days! Wicked crashes! Melted hyfax! Wailing with laughter at the cabin(s), hotels, friend's houses! Night before excitement when getting sleds and gear ready! I've done and seen some crazy, funny, and awesome stuff over the years! It is all part of the experience.....and I love it! Every single ride I make a new memory! :face-icon-small-hap

When out riding my phone doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!Not, now them friggn things work about everywhere you go!!!!!:smokin:I can remember a roady to pinedale I went on with some buds. Amazing trip, Amazing country. We were cooking lunch on a fire and shooting the bull. Talking bout some things that are left in the vault and more. Those are the things that make lasting impressions. We covered most of the greys river area in a couple days and it was amazing. Went to places Im sure many would only dream about seeing. I can think of a few times weve been in a pickle and really had to come together to get out of the places we were in. Its great too see people excel in sometimes very stressful and tense situations as it builds character and a bond. I have sledding buddies who I know would do anything for me and in turn I would too. Sledding is like pizza for me. When its good its real good and even when its bad its still good!!!!

As Clark W Griswold said to Russ when they were out getting the Griswold family christmas tree,"Its all part of the experience Russ" I thought kims golf analogy explains it to the T.

Family, friends, laughter, 110, stucks, playing in the trees, feeling of euphoria, packing, loading sleds, turbos, getting ready for winter, wrenching, new gear, thumbs up, woohooing, memories, learning, glued to the tv watching the weather channel, watching sled vids with good buds, NMFHs and all that comes with that ;), roadtrips to go ride, beautiful views, perma-smiles underneath the helmet, getting roosted, riding till you can't ride anymore, watching/teaching kids to ride, rush of adrenline....This all adds up to why I ride, it has never been a hobby..it's always been a lifestyle. It shapes me into who I am..most sledders get this. The people in this industry are a special breed unlike any other, and I'm so fortunate to have so many in my life!! :)

How often do you stop on a peak somewhere...surrounded by nothing by mountains, sunshine, and friends? Turn off the sleds... Just look around you and think... WOW!!! Few people ever see this in their lifetime, and I have the opportunity to experience it so often! Amazing really!

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out and proclaiming. "Wow, what a ride!"

STFU Kim Really!!!! How often do you stop on a peak and and turn your sled off???? LMAO!!!!!

We all seem to be in the same boat...Good fiends.family and the way it makes us feel!!! I always have that uphoric feeling along with a major endorphan rush slammed together with an adreneline over dose!!! And that may seem like its all crazy and chit but you put all that together and it feels like total inner and outer and all around peace!!!

I gotta an F in spelling:face-icon-small-fro

snowmobiling makes me horny...

I was wonderin' what you were doin with your sled in the trees bro....yuck!....that just wasn't right! LMAO!!!

Blakey Blake.....Did I say, "Turn my sled off?" I meant, I broke down on a peak once and took time between swear words to look around! haha! :face-icon-small-win

sledchick, I'm pretty sure I love you!:face-icon-small-ton:rose::face-icon-small-blu

I didn't finish the vid yet or read the posts....but this is about right

When I ride, especially if I'm hammering it hard in technical terrain, I really don't have room to think of much else. It is a great shrink!

all be it, I haven't gotten to hit tech sledding, nor am I good enough. But sledding like everything else I do is for simple reasons.

When I'm riding dirt bike on some single track....man it don't matter how freaking sucky life is or pissed you are....when you get in that flow and all you can think about it not wrapping a tree.....shrinks not needed. No better feeling then winding through trees ona crisp clear day!

I love the challenge....sure I fawking hate it when I'm learning and sucking( which is often on a sled...unless it's trails), but that one first time you GET IT be it single track, water skiing, or sledding....man if you could bottle that stuff:face-icon-small-hap

I love knowing, not very many people do it, nor can many people understand why I do it.

Most of all I'd say it's the feeling you get when you finally GET IT and the people you are with who know exactly what it is you just GOT!!!
