Why is the Challenger Lite track so bad?

Im putting a Challenger Lite on my girlfriends SRX, C-bolt cut me a cheap deal and even informd me of the trenching issue, but what could possibly be worse than the 121 thats on it lol. I figured i could play with the suspension as im using the skid from an 05 summit. I got my 01 mountain cat 144 to not trench so bad, maybe ill get lucky with this one! Next year regardless of how the track works, shes getting my powdermaxx, and im getting a camo extreme!

I run the camo-lite on my 07 X, with the smitty drop down brackets seems to do great in my opinion after a little suspension tinkering, but by no means am I an expert, so I could probly be getting more, but I am happy.

BTW TurboAl, I for one would like to thank you for that wealth of information, makes alot of sense to me, more people need to listen to this guy!

I dont find the track too bad on my old mans XRS when your climbing. Hooks up good and seems like a pretty good track...........Utill you go down hill.

I pulled a steep slope one day with lots of turns, moguls, and some trees. I climbed to the top and had to go back down. Everything was fine till I needed to slow down but the sled gaine speed when hitting the brakes. I made it down but not without some dirty underwear........;)

Anyway his track got some ripped paddles so he's going to put my Camo challenger of my XP and i'm going with the Extreme!

Cant wait!

This lite track was designed for the hill clilmb circuit. Where chewing is the name of the game. Refering to packed snow, rocks, stumps and tree roots. It does a heck of a job in these conditions. Deep powder is not its strenths. Especially in dry snow. It does not pack the snow and lift the machine. It chews and trys to spit it out the back. In 24 inches of powder snow on a very steep run it would climbed 20 feet higher than my other machine with the lite track. Really noticable if in inclines and slow going etc around trees. It just wont get you moving forward. It digs and starts to dig a hole downward. If you run in powder dry snow change the track and it will be dollar for dollar the best performance money you can spend.

^^^ Couldn't have said it any better Maxwe ...

We should alll stop and ask Mike(the originator of this thread) where he lives and what kinda snow falls in his area before jumping to conclusions.

Maybe in your guy's areas the super light dry pow is what you guys ride in. Then it's hard to argue with guys that have;
1)Tried to make the Lite work with suspension adjustments.
2)Tried each track on equal machines each with it's own suspension adjustments suited for each track.

I haven't had a chance to try that scenario, we don't have super dry fluffy powder, so I'll have to take your word for it. In our world(Central/Interior BC) simple tweaks is all that's needed to make the Lite work like we all expected(after having been spoiled by the hard charging '06's)

So let's not jump to conclusions and try to help a guy out instead.

Didn't skidoo make some changes to the "challenger lite" track for 2008? More flexible paddles or something? I remember reading something about it last year.

I ride in Wyoming in the Snowies. Sometimes it is really bottomless poweder, and sometimes it's wet snow. Depends, but I like the powder and that is what I shoot for riding in.
