Why is it????

Well I haven't put my sled away yet (we're headed out on a 3 day sledding trip tomorrow morning) but when sledding season is closed we'll be riding ATV's, hiking, fishing, boating, and possibly even do some hunting this year. The couch has it's place at the end of the day, though. :)

It's kind of pathetic watching people drag their sleds up the mountain to try and put some scratch marks on the last vestiges of ice. How sad their little lives must be that they are reduced to picking table scraps off the floor. Reminds me of a mother ewe whose little lamb has died but refuses to leave thinking somehow it will wake up and everything will be alright. In the mean time the normal people now are fully tanned and living the dream enjoying their summer past times knowing that next winter and the good snow are just around the corner...

Preach on brother! I will get aquianted with my new HCR next November. Until then, Im pulling the trigger on my "summer sled" at HPR. You gotta go do a car lapping day Mike!

man that's pretty hard core. I rode the other day. The conditions were less than ideal but still 100% coverage. When I was done I drove down the hill back home where it was 67 degrees. Enjoyed a bunch of beers and a bbq. Does this make me a mother ewe? I just realized I might not be normal and worst of all I can't leave my lamb. Better cancel riding tomorrow....:face-icon-small-ton

Okay, mother ewe was a bit harsh. How about crack hoes crawling around on the ground looking for that last rock?

i'm finding plenty of rocks where i ride, but then again i don't ride crack whores. still plenty fun though.:sun:

why is it that SOME people seem to always be negative instead of trying to remain positive in spite of the less that ideal conditions ?

Cheer up PJ ! this hug is for you !

I'm perfectly happy. I have almost as many rides on my dirtbike as I had on my sled.

I'm a powder snob and I'll happily admit it. I hate crusty, hard snow or slush. I don't enjoy it and most of my friends that I ride don't either. But we all have Spring, Summer and Fall hobbies that keep us going. Not a single person I know "sits" on a couch all summer, but there seem to be a chit pile of critics that blast those who bag it when the snow turns rotten. I shoot, do archery, riode the ATVs on family rides, ride alot of the backcountry on single track, take my kids fishing, camp, starting in late July I start scouting for elk and in September I bowhunt all month. My friends hike, camp, run the crawlers on jeep trails or some work so much in the summer because that's when their construction window is.
Did the season suck? F*ck yeah it did. The 500(ish) miles I rode were fun and almost close to ideal conditions. I don't regret them but it sucked that normal riding habits didn't matrialize.

Im just fawking with you PJ! SHOOTIN' FISH IN A BARREL!:face-icon-small-win I have no dirt bike and the lake is to cold for wakesurfing even though is is 83 gawd dam degrees.

Man, it was just a joke. You guys must get sand in your vaginas riding those dirt bikes. Lighten up and enjoy yourselves. That's the great thing about America, you can do what you want. Just a side note, anyone still riding is not pathetic, posting something like that is truly pathetic! Oh, I saw rafts on the Colorado today on my way to Denver, they must not have heard there is no rafting at all this year! Sorry, but that post was ridiculous.

Didn't say the Colorado. I said the Arkansas. And I was wrong in listening to one friend who cancelled his business booking this summer. My bad.

Don't you have a remodel to finish so next time someone asks you to host a Forum Ride you don't turn them down for a 3rd year in a row?

Just a joke.

Not funny.

Maybe, maybe not. But I and other peeps have asked him 2 years in a row and was told no. That the remodel wasn't finished. The remodel that started in 2009-2010 I believe.

But here's the history rundown. In 2009-20010 the Forum Ride was held in Crested Butte. A discussion one night in Bushy's cabin ended in everyone wanting to have the next one on Grand Mesa. Powder Patrol, Bushy, XC, Mule, myself and quite a few others agreed. So in 2010-2011 Gail Dolen and I approached TML. We were told no, that he wanted wanted to finish the remodel. OK, but we didn't understand why he was worried about Colorado riders and the remodel not being good enough, but yet it was good enough for out of state riders traveling to GM. But hey, it's ok. So the Forum Ride was held at SLO again and they double booked us and that was a nightmare. By no means is that place super fancy. So in 2011-2012 I asked him again and was again told no, that the remodel wasn't complete (a year later) not good enough for Forum Riders but good enough for tourists. Don't get that philosophy myself but who knows. Because he said no, the Forum Ride died. Peeps didn't wanna stay in Grand Lake, peeps didn't wanna travel to Silverton because of the long drive, peeps didn't wanna hold it on Presidents Day (been held that weekend since I can rememeber) so the interest waned and it died. Donation items that I had already collected were returned and many explanations were sent to other doners and peeps planning on attending. So unless someone else picks up the ball, a fun and great fundraiser for the BRC, SAWS, White Rivers Forest Alliance and other local clubs fighting everyday to keep areas open ended.
