I see this all the time Why? do different people get a different price, does it some hoe increase sales? seems like you have to answer a lot of pms for nothing. whats the real story on this?

maybe there wifes said...sell the dam sleds!!!!.
so they post an add knowing it wont sell without a price?

When they know they are asking more then it is worth they dont list a price. That way you have to call them and get trapped on the phone talking about how cool it really is.

How about filling out the location in your profile while you're at it. Pics come in handy too. Spending thousands of dollars sight unseen does not sit well with most people.

Just what I was going to say! LOL

Thats my take too. They are just fishing, and don't want to scare the fish away with the price.

LMAO, just when it was going to be another boring morning read on SW you get to read something good. Thanks.

If you are referring to used stuff I agree with above comments. But if it is new items that is a different story. ie, I sell performance parts for diesel trucks and there are guidlines for selling these parts. MSD has a program out that is called MVP pricing if a dealer is caught selling his parts below MVP price than they will pull your right to buy. This has all happened because of internet whoring. It really sux to sell a 700 dollar item and only make 30-40 bux because of volume pushers on internet. As a buyer you may say great more competiton. But truth is somebody somewhere has to have a brick and mortar operation to take care of these customers when they have problems and they doo have problems. Sorry for the rant got off topic but this is why we will ask for pm's for best pricing.

I guess I don't get a lot of this stuff either. When I sell something I try to find out what its worth then ask that price. If I really need to unload it quick I ask less. If it doesn't sell for a while I'll take less. I think about half the time I get my price and the other half I reduce it, but I always post the price up front.

I have never understood the "$3500 OBO" (or best offer) thing. How many people call up and say I'll just give ya the $3500. I guess that may be just a starting point for reference which is still better than no price. I may just be old or old fashioned on this kinda stuff, I still like a good hand shake on a deal. EW

not sure but it drives me bonkers!

almost needs to be required to post, just like you need so many letters to bump a post.

To me it says I'm ashamed to publish the price because it's outrageous I never call because I know it's out of line. I'm amazed at how many car dealers pay a lot of money to advertise with out listing prices, does anyone call them? Even car dealers that list prices are annoying, they always ask "who am I talking to?" I always ask "who would I need to be to get the details on that ______?" Then it's the old I'll have to check with our used car manager blah blah blah, like they can't have that worked out ahead of time. Then you find out your not interested and you have to throw an elbow to the throat to escape.

Not that I'm bitter or hate salesmen or anything...

sounds to me like Larry is tired of the poo and finally getting something nice:D

So when you call 'em and find out how outrageously overpriced the item they are selling is... they'll get the message when you slam the phone in their ear... Done that a few times talking to the dealerships.

It's not only the "no price" thing it's also half the time the person doesn't have where they are located that really bugs me !

Im selling my sled, maybe - if you really really really want it then send me a PM with an offer. If you really really really want it then it doesnt matter how far away I live. Just email me an offer for approximately double what it is worth and then I will decide to sell it and worry about shipping. Thanks.
