Who's running a 162 ce 3'' on a RG tm1000?

I'm in the process of installing my twisted RG kit on my m1000, still waiting on my ce 3' track to come. In the meantime I was thinking of lowering the gearing to around the m8 stock gearing. What are you guys running out there for gearing? If you guys did lower it, did it help the clutches stay cooler? Maybe a gain in track speed over a stock 60/60 due to clutches not being as loaded down? I have a kmod going in as well, I ride between 7500k-11000k, will be running around 10 lbs most of the time. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions!

depends on what track speed you are going to be turning at 10lbs, if you are running in the range where the clutching is close to a 1:1 ratio then leave it, if you go to low and the clutching goes into overdrive it will be worse.

Example M1000 (60/60)
7400 / 2.24 X 2 X 60 / 5280 = 75.1mph at a 1:1 in a perfect world or close to it I think.

Here is a thread about it

Just curious on the math, I under stand 7400 is rpm, 60/60 is the 1 to 1 ratio, where is the 2.24 X 2 X 60 / 5280 = 75.1mph coming from?

That is the gear reduction of the planetary in the DD. Basically all the gearing from crank to track that takes place.

If no one has experimented with different gearing setups then I will just give the 60/60 a shot first and go from there. Must not be to popular of a track yet?:face-icon-small-con

Did you ask Shain, I'm betting at 10lbs you will be around that 75mph mark

I just asked him if his clutching that comes with the kit would be ok for the 3'' He said it would be fine. I will eventually call him again for something so I will save up a load of questions again:face-icon-small-ton

I have played around with m8 gearing in my m1000 turbo its ok I like the 62/58 better way faster!!!!!

So your saying you actually went to a higher gear ratio then? If that is the case, I could have been thinking in the wrong direction then?:face-icon-small-sho What kind of sustained climbing track speeds in deep pow were you seeing? What kit, what boost, track, and elevation you at?

boondocker race gas 10 to 12 pounds boost 5000 to 8500 elevation track speed 70 to 80 track 2.5 camo 162

gears go side by side with rider style, some have found more speed gearing up, but the clutch heat was a little higher, just depends.
