Ditto, Shane!

I got mine last year and it's da-bomb. I used to reluctantly wear my ABS bag, but the vest is so comfortable that it goes with me every ride now. Kinda hard to explain, but it distributes the weight around my torso so ya forget ya have it on. It is warm too. I have definitely changed the way I dress.

Did I mention: I really like my AviVest!

Ps thanks AviVest for the great service this fall!

I like the Idea behind the avi vest except, all the storage is in the front, first time you take the bars to your chest your going to break your radio, spot, camera or your ribs. secondly, having the shovel attached directly to your back, same scenario if you take a digger off your sled and land on a rock or stump.

Unless you are running ape hangers or setting way low during all your tricky maneuvers, you will go over the bars. I run the old school solid mtn bar and still seem to catch the top hoop just under the vest as I go over.....don't ask how I know.....LOL

The big storage compartment is in back, just like a back pack. The pockets up front are only big enough to hold the little stuff you mentioned. If I wore my ABS bag, I still carried those items up front in my coat pockets.

The point I'd like to make. It as the versatility of a pack and coat, but all the comfort of the vest!

As far as the shovel....it's the same as a backpack. I personally don't carry a hard shovel in my pack, but if that is what you are used to, it's no different.

The Avi Vest is a great product, I would like have adjustable shoulder straps thou, as mine seems to sit a little low on my back and I would love to be able to sinch it up some.

thanks!

Avi Vest Customer Support

Ordered one - picking it up tomorrow - Reading about the proper but uncommon customer support & positive (except for the zipper) comments from "Actual User's" confirms it as a viable option. Hope the customer service extends to Canada. EH!

avi vest

I love mine. I wish it held a shovel blade on the outside other than that it is great.

I got the Avi Vest this Christmas and rode with it on several rides now. I have never owned a avipack device before and I was surprised how heavy it was. It has a large stainless cylinder that weighs quite a bit more than I expected. I am not complaining, just a little surprised at the weight. When you are wearing it you don't actually feel much of the weight at all. Do they make a lighter carbon/composite cylinder? Anyhow I feel that there is more than enough storage in this pack, more it seem than my Kilm back pack has, and I love having the big pockets on the front. Perfect place for a radio, ect. I hope that storage is all I ever need it for.

If its like a tek vest like the original post stated. You aren't going to wear your beacon on the outside of your vest, and how would you like to take a hit off the bars and have the beacon jammed into your ribs when its under your tek vest? I could be wrong though.

I'd say it would be better than hitting that beacon onto the bars without the vest on. Or re-strap your beacon onto you hip area and never have it bother you again.

Either way I'm looking at buying one too. Currently have the OGIO flak jacket and it's just a bit too small for my size and also doesn't comfortable carry ALL my gear. Great for spring riding, lI don't mind how it fits, especially with a cooler layers on but just not the right product for me- so it's for sale.

I tough about just starting with the vest for now as I can use it year around.

who would be willing to post some pic's of the avi vest? I am thinking of going this way. I just have been useing the traditional decon, probe, and shovel. I don't like the big back packs like ABS. The Lung did not seam like it would work under presure, or I should say I might not be able to work it under presure.

Buy it!

The Avi-Vest is the way to go! Packs are a pain. Vest fits,...like a vest would. Perfect. Good adjustment, storage and piece of mind.
Waiting for the Avi-Jacket. Will it come? Guess we will see.

thanks!

i agree, my only complaint would be it sits a little low on my shoulders, i wish i could tighten it up by 1-2"then it would sit a little higher on my back.
other than that it has great storage, plenty of room shovel, hd camera, gps, extra gloves, beannie, snacks, sunglasses, monopod for camera
and i could stuff more in it as well
love the avy vest!!!!!!!!

I am going to buy any avy vest or pack. I wore the vest at Dan Adams Next Level Riding clinic. It was very comfortable but I run really hot. I rarely wear more than a thin layer over my base layer even down to 10-15 F. The vest was too warm for me most of the time. Does anyone have experience with the freeride style avy packs that are made by a couple of different manufacturers? I wear a pack now and it doesn't bother me at all. Also, my boys liked the vest and I am interested in getting the one with protection in it for them. Has anyone worn one of those?
