Who thinks flatlanders cant ride

Absolutely....well, if you define "mountain" as the pile of snow at the edge of the mall parking lot.

Some of them snow piles can get big...... You could get a solid 20, 25 foot pull out of the good ones.

Flatlanders can ride just as good as anybody on any mountain

well, its the ones that think the trail is a snocross track that bothers me..

or talk sh!t about a sled and want to race u around a track instead of up a hill.. :P

i know i can't talk, i was born a flatlander... and even the "mtn riders" will do the same thing, just less common.

but a bunch of em can ride the mtns just fine, if not better! :) some...can't...but again u'll find the same w/ some of the "mtn riders" too!

h3ll, i've been riding the mtns for ~10 yrs and i still suck! haha always runnin into trees, gettin stuck, rollin my sled.. lol

Of course they can. Just go to Cooke City and "anyone" on the mountain is most likely a flatlander.

i'm from maine so im sure im considered a flatlander. the highest ive ridden a sled to is 4000'. we regularly play on stuff in the 3500 foot mark. logging trails in the area can make for some pretty technical climbs. i play on one that goes from 1800 feet to 3500 feet without a leveled off area and its grown in to about 2 sleds wide. i think that my experince riding in maine has forced me to develop skills in the trees. while i may not know much about climbing bare mountains, put me on a mountain in the trees and ill show u what i can do. id say boondocking wise and tree climbing wise, some "flat landers" are pretty darn good riders but we dont know enough about above treeline riding. like someone mentioned i wouldnt know an avalanche chute from any other good climb. cant wait to get some experience above treeline though. I'm saving my pennys!

Except they show up with short track sleds and try to ride directly up avalanche paths........

This thread is gonna be good!!! Pass the popcorn. Who wants a :beer;?

i agree, i'll have a :beer; & please pass the popcorn

edit:
i just have to add to this. i out-rode a guy who claimed to have grown up mountain riding & i had only been mountain riding for 4 years. it all depends on the rider.

1st of all what's the point of this thread other than to talk chet.

2ndly I'm a former flatlander myself and I don't care how long you've been riding if you've never riden the mountains your not going to be a very good mountain rider, the difference between the 2 are like dirt bikes and 4-wheelers...just not the same riding style.
Obviously the more you ride the mountains the better you become....so a flatlander obvioulsy CAN be a good mountain rider ONLY if they've been out the mountains.

Again dumb thread but had to put in my .02

First off define a flatlander?

Someone that has only ridden in flatland?

or

A persons residing address?

Seems alot of peeps that live in the "flat lands" close to the mtns do not consider themselves flatlanders just because they are closer than most. In reality we are all flatlanders UNLESS you actually live in the Mtns.

I'm a flatlander and I can ride!!!

I'll take a wild guess and say you're probably around 16 maybe even 17 and dream of having a turbo sled someday (hence the user name) Or maybe you just ride Daddy's turbo when he's not around and since no one else will attest to your vast mountain riding prowess you feel the need to tell everyone that You are a flatlander and you can ride....

Am I pretty close?

I'll appologize up front if you are mentally handicapped or maybe only about 12 years old on your mommy's computer just trying to be a big boy.

If not...You are soon to become a legend in your own mind BonerBoy;)

Can I get a Beer please, I'm out, I do have some popcorn though:p

it is but if you missed the part where I said he doesn't ride much so it's pretty much mine. He sold his 06 rev 800 hmx159 and I gave him that. He wanted a yammi b/c he was tired of gettin his azz handed to him.

Glad that you guys have no life. Drive 3.5 hrs to meet up with an 18yearold kid. Thats good. Im picking up the sled and goin to tog. You can meet me there. I don't care when your gonna be at Tj's and they moved into a new store if you didn't know. I'm on a family and friends trip so you more than welcome to tag along to tog if you want. I would be more than happy to ride with you there!!!

On the other hand, I have never ridden in the "Flatlands" so I'm pretty sure there are a few things I could learn about....ditches, or curbs, or whatever dangers abound in the flats but I'm sure I could probably ride just fine there.

I have been riding strictly mountains since my first sled in '88 (I'll save you the math, that's at least a full year before you were born) and I would not be so bold as to spout off about how awesome I ride because I will always have a great deal to learn about mountain riding.

Let your riding speak for itself if the recognition is so important to you.
You come across as a punk when you have to brag about yourself.
Have fun in Revy. I have mountains within a 45 minute drive from my home.

BTW, Look up the old story of the two bulls standing on the hill over the herd of cows in the valley below.
One is older and very wise and the other is very young and....well, dumb.
You figure it out.
