Aftermarket Head

For 5000-10000 ft and higher horse power with pump gas and best price.

I also want to bolt and go, no reliability issues or tuning.

Why not ask for it all! lol

Opinions please, I want to add some ponies to my 800 xp for next season.

SLP KIT for the 800R you will not be disapointed

just put the SLP powerdome head on my 800r. 15 miles into the first ride i detinated the left piston. the engine had just been replaced about 200-250 miles before head was installed and i am anal about only using 91 or higher from reputable gas stations. pretty bumbed to say the least.

head results

We just installed 2 different heads on our 800R sleds:
XRS 800R 159, w new 2008 spec crate engine, stock compression 120 psi both sides at 3200 feet in Airdrie, AB added SLP head with 13.7:1 ratio inserts, resulted in 139 psi both sides, easy install, decent looking head, looks fairly stock at a glance for the sleeper look.
XP 800R 163X, stock 120 psi both sides 3200feet, same place, added TerraAlps head w 14:1 inserts (real nice head, top notch machine work and detailing was awesome, gotta love the anodized black with machined out words) resulted in 150 psi both sides.
Both sets of inserts had a similar chamber shape, but the TerraAlps had the coolant side of the domes stepped, like RKT's domes....very nice.
Install was a breeze on both sleds...using an air ratchet takes longer to drain some of the coolant than anything else.
I would buy from TerraAlps again, quick turn around time (head arrived within 24 hours of ordering it via greyhound), plus they're in Kelowna BC, so local shipping and no border crossing delays. Call Ted www.terraalpsracing.com.
Report to follow on the Head to Head shootout this weekend in Golden, BC. :)

Head results at altitude

XP 800R 163 stock at 3200 feet was 120 psi, installed Terra Alps 14:1 resulted in 150 psi at 3200 feet (Airdrie, AB)...only a 2-3 beer job. Took to 7200 feet (on Gorman lake in golden, bc) and did compression test = 125 psi, so we maintained compression from 3200 feet at 7200 feet. Dropped clickers 2 spots and maintained same rpm as before on Gorman lake.....will add weight to pins and go back to other clicker setting.

XRS 800R 159 stock at 3200 feet was 120 psi, installed SLP head 13.7:1 domes, resulted in 139 psi in Airdrie. Took to 7200 feet at Gorman Lake resulted in 114 psi. Same gauge and technique used each time for compression testing, so if it's off it's all relative. Same clutch results, need to add weight, clicking down 2 spots indicated more power, but adding weight is needed to do real comparison.

In drag racing, both sleds neck and neck, whomever hooked up the best would take it, side by side all the way to 130 km/hr. Never got to do hill climbing comparisons as the snow sucked. Dynamo Joe (kit) and 800HMX (tuning) clutched both these sleds.

do both these sleds run pump gas at elevation without problems?

You could run premium pump gas at elevation no problem. We added about 2 gallons of 110 for Chatter creek as we were unloading at about 2700ft. Rode to 9300ft (we should have done a compression test).

I don't think we needed the 110, it was available so we added it.
