WHO is building Turbos for the new E-Tec 850?

I've seen a Silber on a T3 174 and there was a terrible stumble from standstill that made tree riding impossible. Not impressed with Silber's performance in the E-TECs. Can't imagine it'll be better on the 850 but we will see.

Them Slober turbo's definitely made a name for themselves up in Canada.... But I heard if done right they run okay, but they are never still in the same league as quality units (Boost-it turbo's)

Well....can you divulge?
Sometime in 2017 I should be able to offer comments.
But my confidence level in a factory/OEM 850 E-Tec turbo is climbing and not diminishing...:face-icon-small-hap
And NO, I have not heard ANYTHING from BRP on this at all.
Just looking at all the puzzle pieces and trying my best to figure out what the final picture is.
But I think I might have a few more pieces on my table than some others do.

Either way, I don't think anything will happen this coming season.
Other than a bevy of aftermarket bolt on turbos.
But we might see something in 2018/2019 if BRP follows the same path that Yamaha did.

I would be amazed if a factory 2 stroke turbo could pass EPA emissions regulations.

But hey... If it has the possibility of happening... I think BRP is the the strong contender in this area.

The single biggest factor that the aftermarket has in it's "advantage" category is the fact that they are not having to meet any emissions regulations.

Would be great to see though ... and I hope you are right Christopher.

"slober" turbos? Was that spelled wrong on purpose?:face-icon-small-win

There are plenty of challenges to over come.
But the EPA issue was also the BIG issue for Yamaha.
Took them several years to nail that down before offing the Factory Turbo this season.

The Vegas odds are not wavering in your favor.
One can always dream.
This one will take a few years to collect on.
But I will bet you a STEAK DINNER that we see a factory turbo announced by March 2019

Factory turbo

I was told, by a pretty reliable source, that it wasn't a matter of not meeting emissions but rather losing credits for the very efficient NA ETEC. So maybe its a numbers game. Can they make enough profit selling a factory turbo to offset the credits they would get selling efficient NA sleds?

Ill take that wager !!!
tokens, tokens tokens, This is NOT F1..

Warranty nightmare, simple truth.

boost limit of ? 4 psi maybe.

minimum altitude for use or void warranty

so many more issues that will stop this dream from happening.
How can an oem offer this package with a warranty and NOT have the bean counters out looking for a hitman to off the fool who approved this model release ?? LOL..

epa credits wont be a factor. imo.

Im debating it myself, either an 850 flatland turbo 4 stroke killer or a Bagger turbo.. humm.. what one will have a better resale......

I see BRP's DI following automakers developement/refinement.
I'm no expert on this at all.. But Now
Seeing booster injectors and piston changes for DI Automotive applications.
Just google Direct Injection carbon buildup..
Not sure what happens to reed's being that dry..
Im sure having a wetter cooler reed will extend its life

Ill take that wager !!!

4-6lbs of boost.
Altitude compensating wastegate
Data Logging IN the OEM electronics for warranty.

Soon...

EZ there stallion,, an oem KIT offering like the mpi stuff isnt an OEM anything.

Though several good kit builders are working with BRP at Their own expense . Paultry sales and the price chopping to meet an OEMS price point make it a fruitless endeavor..

If you ever get involved with ANY oem thru its race dept you will find out quickly its NOT going to be on the OEM dime.
You will pay at least 50%, it is what it is. They too are in this to make money and gain customers, not spend and loose.

BTW, this is a great discussion and I really want to see it happen for all the doo loyalist out in the real snow country.

You can run a 4 stroke turbo in closed loop.... reliably... no problem with oil contamination of the lambda sensor in the exhaust.

How would this be possible in even a DI engine?

In a consumer priced two stroke sled... is Closed loop an option??
