Any of you doo guys riding an 860XP this season?
Or did you ride an 860 last year? What was your experience and
who's kit did you run?

I guess it is time to start thinking about what I will be riding this season.
Leaning heavily to the SHR860. I've heard great things about them and have had great dealings with BJ in the past.

I've also heard rumors of a "special" XP that will hit the snow this year. Interesting to say the least......can't wait to get the year end report on that.

I have not run one personally........I had the chance to ride on (Kelsey's RK Tek out of Preston) a few times last season. It was an 09 Summit X 163 and man did it run. I was very impressed to say the least. I also know one other utahn that has run that I have ridden with. Rich- "Madmax" he has Kelsey's kit as well. I definitely thought it would be a mod worth its money.:D

In the end as far as who to go with?? Either I think will suit you just fine. Kelsey and BJ work together in some of their developments, in fact BJ uses RK's head on his kits. There port work and a few things are different, but same pistons.

For me it would come down to support and service?
And access to that support.

Either will make you happy I think, RK wins for me just because he is local. If you want to experience an 860 before deciding.........RK rides nearly EVERY Fri and Sat in Bloomington. I meet up with them when I am that direction at my in-laws and he is more than happy to have you tag along and try it out.

It ran very strong and I was impressed with it. In fact next year if finances and economy aren't such that I can afford a new sled, I will be putting an 827 engine in my 05 and keeping it going. :)

Good luck with your decision!

860 BB kit

Huge vote for SHR even though he is much further away than another shop in ID. Big John, great guy, Doo certified tech and has phenomenal followthrough after the sale...

Better do somethin Boss!If you wanna keep up with the Cali boys!!:D

Haha. I got that covered already. I purchase a few cinder blocks to strap to my sled. ;).

:D:beer;

Oh and we already have a 6ft base in our mountains.......

Yep, that's how I feel after my previous experinces with BJ. Have you riden or rode with one of his 860's?

Jacob, the 860's run very well. Kelsey and BJ have thier own porting specs. Id say Kelseys runs alittle stronger. I rode with kelsey and BJ for 2 days last jan. in huge deep snow. Kelseys 860XP is completely stock other than motor and clutching. BJ claims to have pulled like 50lbs off his sled. Headlight delete, timbersled rear, fow floats, the works. The RKT and SHR 860 pretty much ran even on the one hill they raced on numerous times with similar weight riders (not BJ aboard). Kelsey says he has improved his porting to make alittle more power this year. My cylinders are up there getting reworked right now. They are both awesome guys, you cant go wrong with either. I use RKT because he is so close.

Boss, once you get one built up I would love to take it for a test run.:D I would consider doing that to my xp next year if I liked how it performs.:beer;

seriously though this 860 is like Bigfoot. Ive always wanted to see one go but never been able to. It does sound fun for a NA sled. Get one BR so I can try it!

There is a guy who rides Grandview all the time that rides a red 860 XP (i think it had an aftermarket track too) , one of the craziest sleds i've ever seen. don't remember his name or anything but if you know who he is or if you are on here, chime up and share that set up, cause it is by far the craziest non turbo 800 sled i've ever seen. He was hitting the chutes behind the "Church" last year on that thing, the only sleds that usually hit them are the turbo's.

Thanks for the input Rich,:beer;
How many days where you down due to motor last year?

60+ days of riding on a good running stocker would mean more to me then
only 30 days on a raped ape. I do have a back up if it ever did go down but I am looking for some reliability. these kits have been on the snow long enough they should be running pretty smooth.

Cool, Im looking forward to coming up that way on a few deeeeep days this year:beer;

let us know what you go with jac, was thinking about putting a 860 in my mower:o:face-icon-small-hap:beer;

I was think about asking You, Matt, Tim and Aaron to buy me a whole bunch of belts this year. Cause with Ken gone and as many Cats as I will be on the hill with I know I will be doing a lot of towing.:p

LOL

I had great dealings with a BJ last night ;)

HAha how have you been freakster?!?!?!

Yep. Me to, although I did see Rich's sled last year, and it looked like it was killing it until he modified the suspension with a 4 inch branch.:eek:

I will be on an 862, does that count?? :D

you and Aaron both.:cool::beer;
