? Who here switched from a xp to cat? Happy?

Ive been really thinking about jumping to cat not sure if ill be happy going from rider forward back to that, had a 05 m7 i hated it are they better now? Tell me what you think, i like the xp alot help guys

i have an 08 xp 154, i feel great on it, other then that the sled has been horrible, i have not been able to ride the past two years bc of several different issues that pop up everytime i ride. needless to say soon as i have the money, forward positon or not i am switching back to CAT!

i came from a 08 154 xp...was a great sled once got all the bugs worked out (about $1500 later) just purchased a 2010 162 m8 snopro and so far so good. seems to be strong right out of the box, holds a solid 8150 rpms and pulls like a freight train....looking to be a fun year

I think I prefer the XP chassis and handling. If you didn't have to replace spring cups, bushings, o-rings, and buttons every couple hundred miles (and assorted electrical gremlins, etc.), I might have picked up another XP instead of a 2010 M8. The 2009 M8 was a big step forward, and the 2010 is better yet. This motor rocks. I'm happy with my decision, but there are situations where I miss the handling of the XP.

I came off a Summit 800 Rev and LOVE my 09 M8 SP. I no longer feel so top heavy as I did on the Rev and with Cat I got to say bye bye to that huge 16" track. My M8 feels real nimble and agile :beer;

I had a 2008 XP 163". I had good and bad luck with it. The clutching is very tunable if you buy the clickers. (a neat idea that works but needs continous adjusting if you want the maximum performance) The XP was difficult for me to do high speed lay over turns with. The sled wants to always run flat and takes a big driver committment to get it to lay over. This is advantageous in rough trails etc. but limits handling in the powder and trees. I believe the XP's wider track and low center of gravity is why the sled handles this way. My AC M8 154" is much easier to maneuver than the XP was. The M8's engine is stronger (2010 M8 SP) and the EFI system is a God sent when restarting the sled if the sled is pointed down hill or you have to roll it over to get going again. (I know the Doo guys will claim they don't get stuck) Anyway, I do get into situations that call for extradordinary measures occassionally and if there is one thing that is a real bummer it is when you mount up to ride and the engine is flooded (Doo's carbed engine). Now the sweat will build up in your helmet. The ported track on the XP's allow foreign objects to protrude through the track and in my experience not only tear the track but bend all the items between the slide rails. Anyone want to guess how many $'s are located in that area of your sled????? Not to mention that you could easily be walking back or riding with your buddy when that happens. Just a few things to talk about since you asked. m8bob

IMO if you like to play in the trees boondocking you will love the cat . . there is no contest which one can hold a sidehill better. The doo needs several mods to sidehill and it still don't compare.

i had a 08 rev xp 600 renegade with a 1.75 inch track and a few other mods and i had a really hard time boondocking with it,felt like it just wouldnt come over and it started to act up and the dealer couldnt fix it so i traded it on a 09 M8 and i fell in love with the m8, i can rip it over when ever i want and boondock all the time effortlessly,btw im 14-turning 15 in 8 days,180pds was about 170 when i had the doo

XP pros= catches air better
Cons = getting it back up the cliff you just launched it off of because you where pi$$ed.

Its a Good sled after you get all the 08 problems fixd. depends on rider style, go ride a m8 and see what you think( 09 or newer m8 or m1)

Bought an M8 in 07 and rode it two seasons. Bought an XP last year and am now back on an M8. XP quality is bad. Fluids leak from everywhere. Hard to fill up the gas tank. At the end of the day I was worn out from pull starting it. The self leveling feature about ripped my arms off a time or two. Glad the sled is Gone!

I rode cat for years, I had an m7, 08 m1000, then a 09 xp 800x now 2010 m8 163. I love the m for everything other then on trails. But I only ride trails when I have to. M boondock like nothing else and 2010 motor rocks the powerclaw is the best track I have ever rode. I'm happy to be back. Now I what a turbo, m8 turbo rock.

Rhode 09 XP 163 last season with full SLP kit and the sled rocked. I'm riding a modded M-1000 this year and I honestly like both sleds alot. I didn't get as tired riding my XP it's a lighter feeling sled, less effort to make the sled do what you want it to. The M-1000 has more torque and grunt that seems to just keep pulling and pulling. I'm 6' 4" 245lbs so for me I feel the M-1 is a better machine. If I was a smaller guy, I'd take the XP over the M-1 all day long. Never had any problems with my XP it was a GREAT sled..............

I have been on an xp for two years now and I am also considering a jump to a 2010 m8. I think the only thing of concern is the ride through the rutted out trail to our favorite spots. I have ridden my buddies 08 m1000 and it feels like I am in the rodeo on that thing. It bucks and kicks and trying to keep speed is impossible. Off the trail is a different story with easy sidehilling and good manners. Have the 2010 m8's been improved on or should I get one and call myself Wild Bill?

yeah,,, rear shox sux but then I had GSR do the rear shox and now it rides as good as my XP my 2010M-8 is the real deal,,,, now its the total PKG,,, BOOST is next
