Who hates their Nytro?

ok! lets take a little trip in time! 5-6 years ago a sled with 138hp and a 153 track would have been a mod sled? so where do you guys think this sled shouldnt be rated as a climbing mtn sled? when i had my mtn max 700 with a 141 track piped, ported and all the mods, what maybe 135-140 hp? i rode at all the same spots we are today! so dont give me this oh its a low hp sled and was designed to be a 600cc, wont climb! what a joke! just face up! it aint the great sled you hoped it was going to be! and as for being a 600 class sled? what 600 has 138hp? none! a700 dragon 137hp, put it in that class where it should be and watch it get a real beating!

You'd have to go back farther than 5-6 years, my 02 800 rmk had 138hp and a 156 stock.

Anybody looking for a turbo charged Apex? I have one with carrilo rods/JE pistons, GT28RS, extended chaincase, avid drivers, the list goes on and on.
I know this isn't the swap meet but someone might want a great deal on an apex that makes 330hp that will blow away a turbo Nytro. IMHO

got to ride one a few weeks ago and for a fourstroke with out a turbo it felt nice down low, seamed to be a bit front heavy but did ok in the powder, just seamed to take more than the xp to get rolling, maybe like others said, it is the lack of track... overall nice sled, just not for the point and shoot like the turbos

I'm noticeing a tread with the Nytro's. Seems the peps riding them up at higher elevations, are having more problems. Also, the same one I rode, brand new out of the box, is now hitting 500 rpm's higher on the shift out, than it was, new. What the Nytro MTX's really needs is some good clutching.

Make no mistake about it, the Nytro will carve circles around a rev, m, or anything else. Feels like your riding a dirt bike. If I owned one, I'd probably do a 16 wide, by 151 maverick, just to get the floatation, without loosing too much power.

Bought a nytro, came of of the new xps and 06 rev, love the overall ridability of the nytro, puttin a turbo on it right now and it's gonna kick the **** out of everything else, don't really care if i have to take the extra money for more power, but it'll be a kickass sled compared to anything else

I was really thinking about buying a Nytro in the future but not until they improve them some more. Who wants to pay all that money for a sled and than have to turbo it to make it go in the steep and deep. I want to buy a good runnin sled right out of the box that does not require 6-8k more to make it run good. If yamaha could get that thing under 490lbs with 160hp I would jump all over it. Maybe in the next couple years we will see some big improvement. I sat on one and did love the way it feels, the best in my opinion, now to just improve some other things.

And what is a good running sled right out of the box?

Clearly the 490 lb sled isn't reliable,so what happens next,we add weight for reliabilty, then in order to overcome the weight to compensate for the weight loss,we add power,,,,and as it turns out,the extra power we add to the Yamaha, still is more reliable than the 490 lb sled.

This may come as quite a shock, but 490 lb sleds are not sustainable and you'll never see Yamaha build a 490 lb super sled.

I will pay 20000 dollars for a kick *** heavier sled long before I'll ever buy a super light sled that lets me down or whether or not I have to worry in the back of my mind if this is the ride that I have to fly it out. There only so many heart beats left,,,I not wasting them on repairs or constant warranty issues.

good luck finding a machine that is perfect right out of the box. these work really good & if you have to put extra $$$ into it & have the reliability to boot.......... so be it!!!!. no different than re-clutching & gearing the exxx pee & hoping it doesnt blow up this year. i have never had this kind of confidence that i have on my Nytro when i rode my RT or my rev's. say what ya'll want about these "heavy" 4-strokers until you ride one........... you'll be pleasantly surprised

Hey Yamazoom, your sorely mistaken if u think ur turboed Apex is gonna blow away a turboed nytro! It will beat it but by very little, i've seen it first hand and so has T-Bone. I have a stage 2 rear mount apex myself and it beat the nytro but my sled had a challenge beating it and i rode both sleds 2 tracks beside one another! Nytro turbo will be my next mod with 162 track and mountain tamer(timbersled skid) Cr Racing tunnel.

Why does everyone think they need a turbo out of the box? Mine will climb very close to 800 Rev Summits, which is pretty good considering the revs have a 16 wide track and weigh less. I'm 100% happy with mine and have no plans to turbo it.

You want a reliable sled eh? dont we all. funny part is i also want a affordable stock sled that you can drop down into new areas and no that you will make it out... Unless your rich a yamaha is no good for an average person....

I rode the nytro with a cr tunnel and a 162 x 15 track under it. Was very surprised at how close it would climb to a 800 rev with a 162 x 16 in stock form. The powder wasn't bottomless by any means, but all in all it performed well enough for me to want one. I dont care if a turbo'd one will get outclimbed by an apex, at the end of the day i bet the nytro rider wont feel like he's has the crap rode out of him.

well i love my new nytro.. i think the track is sh!t, but like everone in here is saying you just have to remember that its a 153 x 15 not a 162 x 16, if you rode an apex last year. i do own two i have the 06 apex stock, and then New nytro, iam acually over impressed in the Nytro on handling and power. And all i did was put the olins rear shock in and did the clutchin and suspension setup, and i have no problem keeping up to some Rev 800s, And m7. and its only a 600 class sled

i do think some track improvments are in the VERY near future, i just cant descide on a 16wide 2.5" track or just a better 153 track

You can buy someones used turbo ( usually a year old ) for the same price or less than a new light weight, and it'll still last longer,be more reliable and can run it cheaper.( less belts and oil )

I was riding with a bunch of new Doo's and they wouldn't climb this one long climb because they were afraid the belt wouldn't last,,,what good is that!!??? Now you can't ride where you want because it won't make it out,,and it has nothing to do with it's ability,it's quite capable, but it can't be trusted to not break a drive shaft or belt,,,nice,,,it's a good thing it's light, the turbo sled will have an easier time pulling it out,ha ha ha.

Any one not happy near Colorado Springs wanting to part with theirs and give a good deal...

PM me.

CO is full of Nytro's and at above 10k were we park to ride, they are killing everything except a few mod 800's.

I need one for a turbo. SC Apex doesn't quite have to power I want any more. NEED More. Also my MPI SC makes 10 pounds. MCX Nytro at same boost and comparable ready to ride wet weight..(mine 652, nytro 649)... kills me. Both have Cammo Ex 174'' The best track made for any serious powder buster riding a heavier sled.

personal xp belt experience

So, yesterday I'm riding up this deep, long climb to get to the top of this meadow where everyone plays around here, and being that there is just one track through the trees, I try to hit it and the nytro bounces back off the packed down track and shoots straight for a tree.

I stop. Sled stuck. No contact with huge aspen though...

These three riders show up within a minute or two. One on a new xp. He busts my balls about my heavy sled, blah blah blah, and he and his buddy (local snowmobile guides) help get me turned enough to drive out of the grave I dug for the Nytro...

Fast forward 2 hours. I'm getting ready to ride home, as I'm tired and my babysitter is getting ready to go to the "Big Beers and Belgians" tasting in Vail, so I'm finishing up my beer while talking to two of the three people that stopped to help me before, and BAM BANG WOAH!

The new XP shredded its belt. I didn't say anything...

This turned into the rider getting out pliers to bend back some tabs that were messed up just to get the clutch cover off, then a knife to cut off the spaghetti of belt fibers that were wrapped everywhere in the primary.

Good times. I gave them some beer and left for home after I hung out for a few min watching the fun.

Just food for thought. I love my heavy a$$ Nytro.

i ride a 2006 stock apex and also a 2008 stock nytro . riding them back to back is the only way to compare both sleds. i love the apex for the engine and the flotation in the deep which i think is where it shines. hard pack is another matter but no sled is perfect. i didn't buy this sled for hard pack. the nytro was bought as a second sled, but also as a sled that i would ride without hesitation as a primary ride. this sled is much lighter feeling than the apex and can carve easily in the deep but so can the apex. it does not do as well as the apex in the really deep but it also does't have as much track. i am changing out the skid to an apex skid and changing out the track to a 162 apex track. for most riders the 153 track would be lots but i like flotation. i don't think power will be an issue and with the clutching change my dealer is making at the first oil change, i believe the sled will do all that i want or need it to at this time.
