Who has trouble finding a place to stay in Revy

Hey all I am trying to get some feed back on an idea for my property. I have 14 acre place about 25 km from Revelstoke an i am thinking of putting up two cabins on it to rent out. I would build them to sleep six or more per cabin. I would build it so it was easy to move the big trailers around as well as a hot tub. there would be a shop that every one could use to work on there sled and was thinking about providing fuel as well. i have 5 good riding areas around from 5 to 15 kms away from my place. Each cabin would be fully furnished with stove washer dryer ect... good drying rooms for all the gear. the sky line truck stop is about 10 kms away would be the closest place to eat if you didn't feel like cooking the Great white north is 20 kms away. I also thought about putting up a place to store sled trailers and sled for the guys that travel from far away place through the season. I am looking for what ever feed back that you got thanks for your time.

Sounds like you are ready to start doing some 'Revy Backcountry Adventures"...

Sounds like a pretty solid plan. As long as you can really get the word out that sounds good.

I highly doubt it...I mean, if they don;t want to cook and have to drive to eat, I do not think it should be too big of a deal...If I don't cook at my cabin, I have to drive a ways as well. No big deal. Plus, the people who stay there I would think want to be out riding instead of driving some where to eat?

That is a tough one. I'm sure it would be nice but are you going to go through enough fuel if you get a large tank fast enough to keep it from going bad? There are a ton of what ifs for that?

fuel

yes thats a good point i was thinking of getting a smaller tank that I would have to refuel all the time I geuss i would have to say to everone that the fuel on there own risk. that is why I would get a smaller tank mounted on a trailer keep that condisation down

i think it would be a great idea... revy is gonna only get busier with the granola infested ones.

not everyone wants to eat out when on a vacation.

I think a big part of the attraction would be having a tucked away secure place to drop the sleds/trailers and run to town with an empty truck. Hopefully your spot is tucked back off the highway a bit?

be a great way to save some coin too for those who want to goto revy on the cheap, cook their own meals and have a couple cold ones in the tub with the ladys.

cabins designed for sleddars would be awesome, needs lots of venting and I love the gear drying room idea.

maybe even get you some used iron you could provide for rentals for less than what the new stuff goes for

A guy doesn't really need to rent an 09 sled (at 300 bux/day or whatever)for his lady who's never been on a sled before eh?

yes hows 200 for an older rev 800 a day sound. it is tucked away there is no way some one could see your rig from the hiway I also plan on setting up a ramp for me and a couple of my buddies to practice on in the early evening if people were intrested in watching us practice that silly ****. i just want to creat a supper cool sled scene for people to hang out at. I want to put a big screen in the shop whith a little bar. i would like to know what people are willing to pay for somthing like that. you know per head a night. i don't need to get rich but I do not want to go broke.

It worries me that people would not want to stay that far away from the bars and the restruant's or that town night life it seems that it would be more geared tawards the budget savey groups but how many budget savey groups are out there

For alot of younger guys being within walking distance of the bars and restaurants is a big deal. We have been staying at Powder Springs for the last couple years for that one reason. But, since the change in ownership its the only thing it has going for it and wont be staying there again.

I wish you luck if you decide to go for it, were gonna need all the sled friendly places in Revy we can get.

theres a suprising amount of groups that are budget like that in the younger crowd, also if you do start something like that i got a great thing you need in those.

so you would not mind the idea of being 25 kms out side of town with more of a home sort of feel to it? if you do not mind me asking how much would you be paying per head now a day. I know this price will continue to rise. My goal is to get a group of people that like the scene and keep them coming back. does it bother you to be 10 kms away from a resturant. do you like the idea of saving money by cooking at home? how many trips a year do you make out to Revy?

I live 20 miles from a little town, that little of a distance isnt an issue for our group i gotta drive that or farther to get to a resturant or parts now. I make as many trips as we can afford. I havent priced out any trips up there yet this year, so not sure on price. but we have a great time off our own bottle and i think once you got some good groups up there, hopefully not too many crapy ones first, you'll have return customers year after year.

It sounds like a sweet idea, heck where we skimp on trips is food, cooking your own food sometimes gets us one more day of riding. plus the peace of mind of having an empty truck and no trailer to park to get grub at a resturant if you want it is also a big bonus.

hey thanks for the great info do you think it would be good to have fuel on location and how about the ramp thing

We stay at a place in Valemount that is just like you want to setup. room for 8, full kitchen and living room, hot tub, and a heated garage(room for three sleds and drying out gear), and its about 10 mins out of town, which doesnt matter cause theres nothing to do in Valemount anyway. Payin about 35 bucks a head. Price is Probably gonna go up again considering they are getting a ski hill as well.

Fuel might be an good idea consdering how far you are from town and riding area's.
