Who out there has the FULL SLP Performance edition kit in their 2005 900 RMK (2005 is my only interest not 2006).

This would mean the full kit with: Cylinder head, Porting, Pipe/can, Y-pipe mod, Reeds, and ECU re-flash.

What do you think of it?

How Many miles on it?

Any issues or concerns?

I was told mine had all the updates done and a Full SLP performance package with Tri City Polaris Airbox. The sled has 1041 miles on it. I put about 35 of them on my first ride last weekend. The engine runs very strong compare to my 02 800 that has a complete SLP performance package. Which is really saying a lot since this 900 feels like it weighs 100 lbs more than my 800.

SLP Kit

Sean,

I bought it last year with most of the mods on it -- 2005 / 166 Full Ported Full Clip.

HighMark /Boise built it. It has the Head, Porting, Pipe, Y, Reflash, Reeds. It also has the upgraded Polaris Crank Kit that comes with the new Clutch and Belt.

It might have 1500 on it. I put most of the miles on it

Finally got it under control with the Anti Ratchets, lots of Power. It and does turn 8100. The High RPM indicator sayes 8230. Very little Vibration.

The VES valves are the mistery. I finally removed the springs completely like it was when I bought it to get it to run right again.

Yellow Springs were terrible.
With White springs it would run good on the Trails, or light to medium throttle in Deep -- Snow. But Pinned in the deep snow it would open the valves for about one second then bogg as they began to close, I believe it is the Porting.

I actually stopped on the hill took them out and away it went. Pinned it will get your attention. Its got all the good stuff, Not too Pretty but its a handfull to ride.

Thanks for the info Lee.

have you tried calling regie and seeing what the deal is with the Ex. Valve Springs? I thought i remember seeing something about the 1140s welding the ev. valves but i could be wrong...

interested to seeing what Highmark has to say about that.

What's your plan here Sean? Do you have a couple of jugs that you were thinking about porting or buying some that have already been done?

dave, you know i always have ideas kicking around ;)

this is for a different project in the backround..

in the meantime i am working this one below...

pretty set on converting my 06 900 to an 05 900 bottom end with a TM1 crank, 06 cylinders (upper injector holes plugged in cylinders), 05 ECU for my turbo project...

--easier to tune turbo
--less current draw from stator (less injectors to run, less fuel psi)
--58psi fuel pressure vs 116psi
--06 cylinders have better porting then 05 stockers w/o spending the money on porting my 05 cylinders
--have the option of using newer style dragon fuel tanks (or trailtank), newer style seat and post

who knows...i need to just open my own shop just so i can hire people to come work on my sleds so i dont have 10K things going on. lol.

I ride with a guy that has about 3k miles on his SLP pefr. package and it has really had no issues. It woke the sled up to some degree, but its only a marginal gain. It isnt worth the $$$$ and time when you consider my back up sled (bone stock 09 700 155) will do everything that sled will do better

I have that on mine 05 900 switchback slp porting package and it runs great and has a very good burn to the piston and plugs I have over 5,000 miles on mine. very good set up. running the 720 helix with derlin washers and a black/red spring and 78g. black spring I'm in low elevation very happy with it.I've had it up to 110 on the spedo very quick. for a long track and heavy sled.

And I'm that guy...The 100lb difference between the 9 to any newer 7 or 8 is what makes the difference. I jump on any of my friends Dragons and ask myself why do I continue to wrestle with the 9. But it has been reliable and I see your looking at some different projects so to answer your question...the perf pkg has been reliable and strong.
