who has come over to yammy and regretted it?

just wondering, i have rode many different 2 strokes from race turbos to pg turbos, i only ride in the hills and my big question is who has been in my situation and went over to yammy mainly the boosted apex and not liked it. please give me honest opinions as i have a chance to pick up a sweet tapex with low miles but am a little worried about all the other stuff about it, like weight, the old chasis i like the m chasis, etc. are they easy to ride once to get used to them? do they hold their own in lets say 3' of powder compared to a good running turbo 2 stroke? please help i hane a itch to try one but a bit scared. lol :D also i owned a boosted nytro and did not like the chasis.

If you like the m chassis then you will love the apex, its surprisingly nimble and isnt rider forward like the nytro but not as rear seated as the m series, imo.

The only thing i regret is............well i cant think of anything. Alittle heavy when stuck but thats about it, and im not stuck that often so i tend to forget about that.

If you're worried about holding your own against a turbo 2 stroke in 3' of powder... then you haven't been around a TApex in those conditions, they'll run circles around a turbo 2 Stroke... Nothing like riding a sled where you can pin it all day long and not worry about the engine. I've had one stock for two years and turbo'd it for another and love it. Find some light weight goodies and you'll like it even more.

I also had a M1000 and I think the Apex is easier to ride.

yes thats what i was wondering about was the old school like chasis, i really like the m chasis and if the tapex is like that id be at home, and yes like my nytro i couldnt believe that there was not a sign of belt dust or anything even after a hard day of ridin. i guess if you throw a skid in there and a lightweight front end it should help with the weight syndrome lol. how light can you get a tapex to with just the basic bolt on stuff?

My apex has shed 100lbs and counting with just bolt ons. check out my sig for parts

You know the 4 stroke turbo though powerfull heavy and not bullet proof have there place like any thing else out there. I do not have nor have i had or will i have one. For some it is the way to go for others they think it's the way to go. Many friends have drooled over the turbo apexes and finally now that you can buy a 30,000 dollars sled for lets say 11,000 have bought them and some are already wanting out of it asking them selves why did i do this. beleive this though you can boon dock them. side hill and what not they are not a lighter more balanced 2 stroke. If you are questioning your self DON"T unless you have the money to do it,and un do it. Die hard 4 banger riders (just some not all).are moving back to the 2 and loving it. if you have big open country and lots of pow the 4 turbos is the way to go.

I love my Apex in the deep, unreal where the hp takes you, I came from a mod M series to an Apex and wouldnt go back.
The best thing I like is, it has never been towed or heli'd off the mountain in 3 seasons. (Until I said that, lol) I have had issues like any other sled, suspension, header, turbo, , clutching, starter etc, etc, but all pretty minor. I think I had the motor out of my M 4-5 times in 2 years trying to make 1/2 the power. I also struggle with the Nytro, it does not fit everyone, I could probably get use to one if I spent more time on one.

I moved from a 1m 900 that worked well to a SC apex and its great. Occasionally it feels heavy but mostly when stuck or on hard snow. I think the biggest adjustment for me was getting used to the engine braking. Otherwise its an absolute riot to ride and I ride mine mostly in the trees boondocking....not normally in the wide open meadows or climbs. They flat work for just about everything!

Switched from Polaris in 05 and never looked back. Well except to see who I would be lending fuel to.

no regrets

I had both an m1000 and an apex, at the time the apex was stock and prefered it to the m for powder and boondocking. the only thing the m was better for was set up snow climbing. put a turbo on my apex and got rid of the m. If someone says they can out boondock a tapex I would have to say they have never riden with one.

I agree, I've had both an M1000 and now a turbo Apex and wouldn't think of going back. The handling is great once you have them set up for your style of riding and the performance gain you get along with being much more reliable is just too good to pass up. I've seen Julio ride his tapex in some tight trees, and I guarantee you there isn't a two stroke anything out there that would lose him.:beer;:beer;

I would agree with this. I had just about every lightweight part on my nytro and in the deep powder it was fun. not so much for boondocking in the trees(maybe rider??) But I was tired after riding for 4-5 hrs and sold it and going back to a 2-stroke.....with boost of course. That is one thing the 4-stroke taught me ...power is your friend,and its always there on tap..........02

another thing that concerns me it the resale value of them i have built 4 stroke turbos last winter and sold every one of them without a loss, i am concerned that the way might be the lighter 2 stroke turbos, i loved my m8t it ran flawless but to get anywhere near 300hp [if even possable] the sled is a ticking time bomb lol. now if you want to be around 200-220hp it will run ther all day long on pure race fuel where a 4 smoke can do that easily on pump gas.

My T-rx1 also frustrates me in the setup snow. I ride my 900 UBR once spring hits. But if there is a couple inches of powder I can boondock with the best on my T-rx1. I am more tired at the end of the day, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The pump gas power is sweeet.
