WHISTLIN' JACK LODGE

Does anyone know if you can ride from Whistlin Jaks to Woods n Steel during the week? Or are they logging during the week and if so is there a way around the logging?

Article in Yakima Paper a day or two ago said:

Was closed (illegal) to ride the last few miles to WJL from Monday Morning till Friday Afternoon. Now, due to concerns by local businesses (WJL?), it is legal to ride from 3:00 pm Thursday and leave early Friday morning, then closed during the day Friday.

Rumor is snow was bladed down to 3 inches. Can expect those 3 inches might have melted off.

Let us know, I'm going overnight on a Thurs in 2 weeks.

spring creek road closed Mon - Fri EXCEPT thursdays it opens at 3 for jacks riders

Went over last night, still plenty of snow to get there, the plowed road was smooth and had enough snow to get there no probem, we had a great ride,

"Ice hill" ( aka pork chop hill ) is great, NO ICE easy right now

I think you'd have to be out of jacks by 6 or so, not sure it they posted the hours it's closed during the week,

WJ conditions

Anyone go over from Greenwater last night? About to head out the door for an over-nite stay, just curious what the Naches side is looking like today.

I talked to Roger (The Groomer) as he was coming up from WJL yesterday. He said snow all the way with just a few bare spots in the logging area.....Logging area is only 2 miles....Said it was all good for our group to spend the night next Thursday...Have fun...

I have heard of the Whistlin Jacks lodge dinner run on thursdays. Can someone fill me in on the details? Times, route etc. Never done it but I like to ride and I love to eat dinner!

Prime Rib on Thursday......All you can eat of everything except the Prime Rib, small charge for an extra slab if you can eat it. Music starts at 7 on Thurs. Don has played there for over 20 years.

We have a group of at least 3 heading over from Cle Elum next Thurs to Spend the night...

quick update on WJL , it's open all week now

Went over thursday night, nice run, a little short of snow on the jacks side but not to bad. pretty beat up and ruff trails this week, not like the week before when it was like a race track, Ice Hill ( Pork chop hill as we call it ) was great, easy run up , no ice, The folks at Whistlin jacks said the loggers are letting anyone come thru at any time during the week, Snow is thin the last mile and a half but with this new snow today and tomorrow that should change, Pretty ruff trails coming over from greenwater too, I'm sure the groomer went out friday so it's probably better as we speak,
just an udate,
dan

Contact Clem at Enumclaw Powersports for information. Him and a butch of other riders go over almost every thursday for that fantastic meal. I have a cabin in the gold creek area (two miles east of Whistlin Jacks) and i will be heading over there today (saturday) to ride. I will be driving around however i will be snowmobiling in that area and can give those an update come tuesday.

We rode Stampede yesterday. Guy parked next to me said he went to Greenwater to ride but got turned away. His engine was running and helmet was on so I didn't really hear him that well. Is the Greenwater snopark open? If not can you park on the road and ride in?

Greenwater is open

Just rode from Greenwater today. Parked at the gate as the gate has been closed all year (pretty much). It was AMAZING up top. Only got to just past govt meadows but with 2 ft fresh that worked for my wife and I. It was my favorite day out this year.

Agreed on the recommendation to hit up the thursday ride with Clem from
Clems in Enumclaw. His group usually leaves like 9 or 10. Just call and talk to him to find out when he's leaving. I went for the first time about 3 weeks ago and loved it. (hes a nice guy and we had a nice group of 14 or so). He gets to jacks like 530 and his group is usually first in line at the buffet. After a couple drinks (cokes) hit the trail back home. We were back at the trucks at about 10 pm. Great day. I wouldn't try to find your way from Greenwater to WJL on your own. When you go you will see that it takes a whole heck of alot of twists and turns to make the 45 mile (or so) trip.

Just arrived back home from a wonderful three day weekend chock full of fantastic snowmobiling. We parked at the greenwater snowpark saturday evening around 6 pm and rode over the top and down to our cabin located at Gold Creek Cabins. Stopped up at Ulrich's Cabin (warming hut) at the top of Govt Meadows and stopped in to warm up. The fire in the woodstove was still burning and the place was warm. Met two riders up there and had good converstion. It was snowing hard and we proceeded to ride in some of the fields there. There was almost two feet of untracked snow and me and my brother had a blast riding in those fields, me on my 2012 Polaris Pro Rmk 800 163 and him on his modded 2006 Polaris IQ 755 Rmk with a 159. We were up there riding up until midnight. We did not arrive down at our cabin until 3am sunday morning as every field we passed riding down the little naches road we stopped and played.

We rode places such as Gold Creek, Devils Slide, Manastash Ridge, Bald Mountain, Cattle Camp etc etc. Great riding.

Just for those who plan on going over to WJL in the near future and know the route, Ice Hill is till managable however stay off to either side as the steeper areas of that hill are losing traction. There is an extensive logging outfit doing some work around two miles up Spring Creek Road from WJL so there are alot of bare gravel areas. The cross over trails from just past ice hill are getting pretty bumpy and between Pine and spring creek (sometimes i thought i was on a dirtbike Supercross track with all the deep whoops) Overall if you are in for a nice long ride, take this trip to Whistlin Jacks Lodge.
