BSU to the MWC???
Lurking on the thread but couldn't pass this up. There has been unconfirmed reports that BSU will recieve an open invitation to the MWC this spring. There is supposedly a letter on the desk of the BSU president saying as much. While BSU and the MWC have denied this, some interesting points have arose over the last year.
The MWC has expressed interest in growing to a ten team conference. Traditionally, anti-BSU, BYU, has been openly lobbying the other conference presidents to accept a tenth team. BYU has also been on record, in favor of BSU over any other teams. TCU has also said that they would like to see BSU in the MWC. So far UTAH is the only school that is outright opposed to BSU joining.
I know that there is alot more to this, like ESPN contracts. Let's look at that for a minute. How many teams in the MWC have multi year deals with ESPN? ZERO. Does the MWC have a deal with ESPN? NO. Hopefully, UTAH and TCU will put something together, with ESPN, after the year that they have had.
I really hope that this happens. I would love to see BSU play UTAH, BYU, and TCU every year. I am so sick of the same lame teams coming here. My wife and I have looked at season tickets but for the price the games are not worth the investment. I would also love to see us drop the travel expense of Hawaii and LA Tech. Mostly I think it would be great if the MWC grew into the strongest non BCS conference around. Just adds to the reasons to scrap the BCS. Also now that TT has had it's azz whooped by OU. I hope that OU loses to Oklahoma state. That will really screw up the system and make the non BCS teams look better.
Congrats to UTAH on the bid and please don't pull a Hawaii. I would love to see a non BCS team beat the big boys once again.
