Which Truck??

Used to work at a ford dealership and the 6.0's were nightmare's (injector eaters) and not very easy to replace compared to their old 7.3L which was a good engine if well maintained. The Dodge is near bullet proof but will ride rougher than the other two. The chevy is a great ride but would not get one 04 or older due to the fact they didn't have all the bugs worked out of them yet.

my 03 duramax/allison has 398,000km (242,000miles) problem free. bought it off the first owner who towd a 7-8k lb trailer, loaded from day one. so far the only things that have been replaced are 2 injectors under warrentee, fan belt, a power stearing line, and set of batteries.

each to his own but i will never drive anything but a D/A.

Well to also defend the Duramax, I drive a 6.0l F250 and it hasn't been a bad truck but Both my grandpa and my dad both have duramax trucks and have never had any problems with them. I'm also in the market for a new truck and have been down to the dodge dealer mainly for the price, but once driving them and riding in them, I'm 1 not impressed with the power, 2 not impresses with the ride at all , 3 not impressed with the interior hardley any room in the back seat and the seats in generall are just not nearly as comfrotable as Ford or Chevy.

If i could afford anything it would be a four door 3/4 ton chevy/gmc with leather interior,
second would be ford fx4 with leather
third dodge laramie

If your just looking at price dodge wins hands down but for any quality your gonna pay the chevy or ford price
Just my OPINION

Another vote for the Dodge. Can't go wrong with a Cummins!

My service truck at work is a 05 F-350 with the 6.0 and I don't think the check engine light has been off since we've had it. Think we've put injectors in it and 2 turbos. Only has 50,000 miles on it... Kind of a pooch for power too.

If the 6.0 Ford is anything like the new 6.4 that I have......STAY AWAY. This thing has had more issues than Mad magazine.

What is wrong with your 6.4? They are wayy more reliable than the new Dodges. I've had two 6.0's (an 04 and and 06) and they have both been great motors that tow great and both have had 0 problems. The new 6.4 is also a great motor. I don't know why all these people would tell you to buy a Dodge, i'm sorry but the Dodges just aren't built as good as the Ford/Chevy's. The motor might be strong but what about the rest of the truck? My cousin works his Dodge hard and has gone through his balljoints 3 times in 100k miles. I mean the truck isn't bad but the trucks just aren't nearly as good as the F/C's.

I have an '04 D2500 longbox with a 5.9 and the automatic.
Good reliable truck, a little bit rough ride, but hey, it's a truck!!!
Best part is I get 25 mpg (21 US) and a 700 mile range.

I vote Dodge

I have an 06 5.9 6sp and love it, its got loads of power and besides blowing up a u-joint have had no problems and it will pull almost anything, and it gets 24 mpg with 35s on it

I run an 04 duramax, it has never been unhooked from a trailer much, 130,000 on it and only a rear set of breaks, one ball joint and oil changes. Had an 03 dodge, was forced to sell it due to it being a pos.and the seats breaking my back. Fords scare me
As long as it gets me sledding I will ride in anything!

Can't go wrong with the duramax, my buddy has an 03 and I have an 04 we both have the same motors (LB7) the only problem he has had was he replaced the injectors which are warrantee'd 7years/200,000 miles, and I haven't had any problems with mine. Good power, starts when its 20 below, great ride, well worth the money.
just my 2 penny's.

Even the Duramax guys have nothing bad to say about the Cummins because there is nothing bad about them. As long as it's a standard. The front end, well you only do it once, because you replace it with good greaseable parts and it will last a very long time. The Dodge might not has every bell and whistle but it will pull the best and run for a lot longer, a V8 diesel just doesn't cut it! When you see a Cummins still run like new after a million miles and NEVER have any engine problems that says a lot. There is a reason people with fords and gms put Cummins into them when that V8 goes :D

I bought a Dodge because that's all my family drives and it never gives us problems. I have to say I do like Ford interior better, but I couldn't live without my Cummins :beer;

duramax or dodge.

comment was made about his 6.0 being a decent truck. there are some out there, but ford screwed up with that one. majority having some issues. I just bought an 08 duramax, and was up in the air about which of the 3 to get. stuck with duramax and love it. I'm sure I would have been happy with the other 2 as well though.

Get a chevy Duramax

Get a chevy!! It will out power any ford or dodge! My dad loves his!!

Friend is looking at three trucks for sale
2003 Chevy 2500 HD 6.6l Diesel
2005 Dodge 2500 5.9L Diesel
2005 F-350 6.0L Diesel

What are the pros-cons of each. The F-350 is the one I have and he is thinking of buying it
Thanks

Man if you can sell your 6.0, take the money and run!! That's coming from a guy who owns an 06 and watched my brother deal with endless problems on his 05:rolleyes: On the flip side if he's your buddy, maybe not such a good idea:p

You made the right choice! 6.0 and decent dont even belong in the same sentence:eek:

6.0 biggest POS ford ever made!! Last ford truck went through 2 head gaskets and 4 egr valves in less then 25,000.... Swithched to Duramax 0 problems in 20,000 miles. just my 2cents

Got an 05 6.0 and love it. Bought it knowing the deal with them as well. Towing 11000 pounds with a program that was stuck in the ecu caused a head gasket failure, and while they were in there, i had them do updated gaskets, ARP studs, EGR delete, replace the oil cooler to be sure, and the hot side of the turbo. Thank god i found a canuck dealer that was willing to honor the warantee on my US truck. Buddy has an 03 6.0 which is infamous for being the worst hunk of crap of all, and 200K on it since it had injectors replaced and running strong still. They all have their highs and lows.

If you're looking at the D-max you'll want an '06 or newer. I have an '05. '06 have better cooling and the Allison tranny is better (6spd and slightly more beefed up so you can run more power with a chip). What I don't like about my '05 and the newer type of turbo they put in it is that there is no wastegate.
