Which M Max to get or avoid ?

I have an itch it get a 700 MM as a back up sled. I have seen some, tripple piped, dropped and rolled ones for around $2500

What do I need to know ?

What should I watch out for ?

Thanks

I personally have a 97 with over 18,000 miles on it and a 00' with around 10,000 miles and they both still run like new. As said above if it has been taken care of they are near bulletproof.

That being said 00' and newer came stock with the longer tracks and went better in deep snow. But the old ones are still good.

97 and some 98's had intermittent crank issues. 99 and up are the better motors and track approach angles. 01 had the new high output mags. theyre all good.

I had 2 97's with pipes never had an issue, other than a crappy track. I also bought the 98srx which did have a crank issue(needed welding and pinning), the 2000 I bought after 7900 miles on my srx cam with an improved track angle but with a super hard track, change to a camo 141 or 151 huge difference, in 2003 the viper came out in mtn form and the crank issue was because of the nozzles they used too lean changed them out put triples on it tunneled and rolled the case and never met an 800 or 900 that was competition it was the ultimate sled with the BB bender 835sold that for the nytro after 7800kms 02

i just bought a 2000 and so far nothing has been wrong with it. most of the people that i know run or have ran a 700 triple and they say that they are bullet proof. good running sleds with the potential for a lot of power. personally from the expirence that i have had so far and from the things that i have heard about them i would get one.

very good find!

that sled is easily worth that $2600. like posted above..these sleds are bullet proof if you change oil and plugs every year! i ride the **** out of mine every year and bought it brand new in '01. it's still on the stock top end and it runs perfect!

and with those mods it will deffinatly be a runner..it's already got all the mods that make these machines rip.

Have a 99' and 00' both with about 3k, pipes, reeds, skis. Love them. 99' and earlier had weak metal/welds at top of steering shaft to bar mounting plate. Heard about it then experienced it. Lucky it was in my yard at slow speeds. Beefed it up and made it 3" taller at the same time. So far soooo good. Also 99' and earlier had heavy metal skis with skins.
