which is a better all around sled. i had an apex for 70 miles till i wrecked it i didnt like the engine braking. which is a better carving sled hill climbs etc all around mountain sled. looking at getting another yamaha no matter what.

i wa always told that there about even in power as far as torque. i dont need to go 100 mph .i want a boondockin sled thats easy to throw around. apwx or nytro. everyonewill will say cat or polaris but i am brand loyal as all hell get out.

You might not like hearing this, but for what you are looking for there is a chance neither one will make you happy, they are both quite heavy IMHO. I know I am gonna get slammed for this, but I am riding an XP this year and once you get over the things you first notice as a long time yammy guy (fit & finish, belt issues etc.) the XP is a blast to ride. Maybe try out what is out there and give them all an honest shake; you might be surprised!

i set on either getting another apex or nytro. i can get used to the whats not to like. i loved the crisp power in an apex. i know theres a loy of guys thats had bothsleds which do you like better

I have an Apex and I have never ridden a Nytro, I would love to try one though. I guess it comes down to what you want to do with it and if your going to make any mods. Stock for Stock the Apex will outclimb the Nytro but from what I hear the Nytro is a helluva tree riding machine and alot of fun. It comes down to getting used to what you have, last year I had a hard time on mine in the trees and getting used to the weight, but this year I wouldnt get rid of it for any of the other current sleds. I would love to see the Apex motor in the Nytro chassis with a 162" Challenger extreme.:D

Nytro imo, better ergos, easier to control, and loves the boost. Having had both i wouldnt look back at the apex, boosted or not.

i wish i would of at least got to ride my apex in good snow. i love the way the nytros look and feel sitting on them. dont have plans of boosting it right away. i have ddone a lot of reading about the nytro tracks. sounds like they they need a challenger track to go thru the snow better. also im gonna make sure to pick up a 09 due to subframe failures. its such a toss up.

To help out with the engine breaking, just turn the idle up about 1/4 turn and is is way more managable. I just bought an Apex and like it so far, my friend bought a Nytro and is dissappointed in it.

i should just wait for the 2010 models but im not much of a first year sled buyer.

unless they come out with a factory turbo for 2010 I will be more than happy to hang on to the Apex. I had to tow my buddies King Cat 900 out today after the motor grenaded. Last year his crank went and now this. Sure these 4 strokes are heavy but not having to worry about blown motors far exceeds the weight penalty IMO.

Apex

I have both, An 07 Apex SE and an 08 Nytro. I personally like the Apex better, but I'm also a big guy 6'2" and 270. I've also ridden the Apex for three years vs. 2 on the Nytro. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the Nytro on any given day and in any type of riding however when I walk out to the garage and decide which sled I takin I'd say I take the Apex 3 out of 5 times.

Take the Apex!

I rode an Apex for two years and last year I got a chance to ride 3 different Nytros. The only Nytro I liked was boosted and it was...well AMAZING! The other two Nytros felt under powered and was difficult to handle compared to the Apex. I thought the Apex "felt" lighter than the Nytro. Everytime I rode a Nytro I was quick to switch back to my Apex.

FYI: I'm riding an M7 this year. I'm only 5'8" and the Apex was sometimes difficult to get leverage on. I think it's a much better sled for taller guys. Man, I miss that Apex power!

I have ridden an apex and now own a nytro. I liked the apex a lot but i felt more at home on the nytro. I have done a few mods to my stock nytro and now will walk all over my buddies apex. The three biggest mods imo are a timbersled suspension, different track(i chose the 162" powerclaw) and tom hartmans clutching(this change was unbelievable) Next year i still planning on boost but for now its about as fun as it can get.:beer;

Haven't spent alot of time on the Apex but love my Nytro. It is a boondocking dream. If your into hill climbing though and are a die hard blue fan you'll want boost. Will be boosting mine this fall.

I haven't ridden the Nytro as much as my Apex, but here is my $.02. I think the Apex has a stronger pull to it, I think that once you got used to the Nytro would side hill better but I do fine on the Apex. I think the Apex is more predictable and stable. The thing I noticed with my buddies Nytro (the same thing that I noticed with the Phazer my wife had) was you had to be on your toes when riding it (them), they seem to like to flop over on their side, which is why they side hill so well. Anyway I am very happy with the Apex and hope Yamaha doesn't stray to far from the current design in 2010, maybe a little more HP and less weight. My friend sold his Nytro and bought a S/C Apex as he had a hard time with the handling too, and wanted more power.

Are you parting out your Apex?

no im not parting it out. i sold it to the insurance company. had 9500 in damage. not a scratch on the plastic though bent suspension tunnel bulkhead handlebars etc. im gonna do some looking around i can get a good deal on both machines right now. i might have to flip a quarter.
