Which is a Better Mountain/Powder Track

Have my choices
15 x156 2" camplast track
15 x 159 2-1/8" Polaris IV track
Have both tracks was wanting to know which would be a better mountain / powder track? The lugs on the 159 seem softer but the track as a hole seems lighter. It started snowing , so I need to get going just want to use the best track. my sled is a 02 800 summit and I am running a DJ clutch kit, 19/43 gears

IMO anytime you can get a soft track they tend to do better in the fluff, The camoplast should be a harder compound, If you ride a lot of hard snow the camo for sure. I have never liked the hard tracks even in the spring time, but we don't have real hard snow in the spring. IMO I have stayed with the softer tracks just for they are more forgiving in much more of a wide range of conditions.
So for a better MT. powder track the 159 for sure. IMO
Glad to here someone is getting snow, have a good time. We will keep waiting. LOL

Challenger

I vote for the challenger. I ride Idaho and its a better all around track. I actually took off my polaris 159 and put on the challenger and loved it.

I assume its the 2 1/8 159 ploaris which is a very soft single ply track. I have Ported version on my 03 vertical escape. Its a decent track for the powder however coming back down can be a little scarry, the padels are so soft they like to fold over. I always store it with a 2x4 under the track because the padels like to bend over just sitting in the garage. Spring snow/hard pack trail.....it doesn't like to hook up because it is so soft. Like I said in the powder it does pretty good but for stoping and a good all around track I don't know. My sled came with it on. You can get them pretty cheap form track USA. Not sure about the other track, which model is it? What did it come off of?

I personally own both tracks and have used both tracks on the same machine. I would have a hard time saying which is better in any snow condition. They are very comparable. The old camo 156 does seem slightly harder but has a very flexible tip on the paddles, I think you will be better off with whatever track is the best price for you, one is really no better than the other in my opinion.

I have tried all kinds of tracks (except the new powderclaw) and you can't beat a Camo for all around great track in all conditions. I think the model of polaris track you are talking about is way too soft, not much good for anything. As far as length between 159 & 156 you are only talking 1.5 inches difference, not a big deal. Go with the Camoplast.

I had the non-OEM 159 series IV on my 01 RMK 800 it was a good powder track but it sucked bad on the trails, there is no traction on any type of packed snow. if you gas it on the trails the sled will go sideways or back and forth( it can be fun at times) but does not pick up much speed, you have to ease into the throttle. I did like it in the deep pow though, especially when i was stopped and somebody else was stopped behind me, i just hammerd the throttle and covered people with snow(big rooster tail). I miss that.:D

My brother has a challenger 156 x 2 on his 97 RMK 700 and the traction on the trail is great but it trenches a bit in the deep pow.

My 04 RMK 700 has a 144 series IV and it has better traction on the trail than my old 01 159 had, if that makes sense.
