WHICH AFTERMARKET CAN (SILIENCER) DO YOU LIKE

Loud pipes close riding areas

If you want more sound out of your sled, learn to ride it WFO.

If you want to be a parking lot poseur, and piss off the x-country skiers, snowshoers, buy a loud aftermarket pipe. Don't care what the greenies think? "F*ck them"----well, unfortunately they are better at fighting the land use issue and we still have idiots buying "loud" pipes.

Because they sound cool.

Is it any wonder we lose land use issues?

If you want to save weight, go to the gym.

Nothing more comical than the guy who is fifty pounds overweight and he has every "lightweight" part he can buy for his sled.

Pick your battles boys and girls-- just know that you will never convince a non snowmobiler that your loud pipe is cool.

Rant over-- let the flaming (and negative post ratings--weak and I'll call you out) begin!

On those I would believe it, the stock SUITCASE for a can on those is retarded. I bet even then it was slight enough to not even be noticable anyway.

Any links? I'd like to see it.

Look at it this way, SLP states the HP gain on everything of theirs, including the cans for older Poo sleds, yet nothing for the new ones........

Dynotech research did the dynos. I have a subscription and feel guilty displaying there information for free.

2012 pro 800,ran well known aftermarket can lost 200 to 250 rpm's. next day sane in the morning, at lunch changed to stock got my 250 back, mite ad this was in cook city and snowing all day.so we had 6-8'' more in afternoon. Just my experience.

Yeah, just looked it up and signed up (though really displeased that I will lose 2 days of what I PAYED for because I look it up at home, work, or on my phone? I get what they're trying to do and avoid, but that is the wrong way to do it and will lose potentials because of it, I only took a one year just because of that.)

That being said, the can and tuning difference of a Pro and Cat are MILES apart. Even then, the only one that showed a worthwhile difference was the Diamond S. (not going to lie, actually quite impressed by that can, despite the price)

But going by that test, the best thing to do is restrict your exhaust with a smaller pipe.

2quick yes it is interesting about the restrictor and I only ever use it on my
Computer. I was more impressed with how little lots of the cans lost if not a small gain. I do realize that cat is different then polaris just a comparison on cans.

Absolutely, it shows most of them are actually doing their homework these days, but for a first mod and for the money, there's lots of other things that have way more bang for the buck.

To me most cans are the equivalant of "glasspacks" on a stock exhaust truck, lots of noise for the sake of noise. If you're that desperate for attention, just put a flashing beacon on your head:face-icon-small-hap

Of course there's quite a few that sound good too, but just like with a motorcycle, do your homework as no matter what other people say, you're the one who has to listen to it 100% of the time.

I have run stock, MBRP, and SLP on my 2013 800, here's my experience.

MBRP
Lost 50ish rpm at full throttle from stock can.
Very poor looking build (overlaps at welds/joints, "untuned" looking cheap outlet, etc).
Pipe to can angle was crooked.
A little loud for my taste even though the 13 can is essentially a "trail" can. Midrange drone killed me on groom

SLP
No full throttle rpm change from stock can.
Higher quality build, pipe angle is good.
Sound is typical for SLP, only slightly louder than stock in certain situations.

Both cans served only one important purpose for me... getting the hot surface further away from my quickdrive belt! I can easily tell by hand that the stock can heat soaks the belt area because it's close enough to do so. I'm running the SLP now, sold the MBRP, would try SPG next if anything.

13 PRO - HPS can. Love it.....saves weight and even though it might be in my head. I think it made it a little snappier. Plus it sounds great!!

I agree spending $350 give or take on a can can make if feel snappier; been there done that. :)

Buddy of mine had an slp can on his sled, and mine was stock. We switched riding sleds on and off all day, and the only difference both of us could tell was just the sound.

If you are looking at getting a little better sound and dropping a few pounds, then do it. Otherwise not worth it IMO, save that money and put it toward something else.

Thanks again guys. I didn't not want to make this an argument about the noise, but just quality and reasons why you guys did it. Thanks again.

I've been happy with my HPS can so far, no loss in power, if anything gained just a tad of throttle response (maybe) but have increased rpm i now pull 8200 rpm at 3-6k'. love the sound not too loud but a good throaty sound. This is on a 600 but the can is essentially the same for the 8

I have been extremely impressed with the SLP can for the last 2 years. Absolutely no power loss, descent weight savings, and it's not stupid loud at all!!

My buddy installed the HPS on his 13' 800 163 last year. Right off the bat, 200-300 RPM power loss. He was soo bugged. It is lighter and louder than the SLP, but I'd take an extra 1lb for no power loss, and the ability to sneak in and out of questionable areas without anyone knowing I'm there lol

I have a GGB Tail Can on my Assault. Very deep sound at idle and sounds very nice at top end, not to loud but loud enough to make you feel good about your sled.

++++++ For GGB

I am pretty happy with the stock setup on my '11. The LR800 changed the tone to a more aggressive sound, I have had a few people comment on it. I have a few buddies with cans on other sleds and when they scream by it hurts the ears a lot.

Thats strange...

My buddy and I both have 2014 163 Pro Rmk.

I weight about 40-55 pounds heavier than him.

I do have the HPS can and he have stock can.

Both sled have MDS clutching.

I'm running 50 rpm more than him even if i'm bigger.

I'm probably sure i didnt gain anything with the HPS can but i'm also sure i didnt loose any.
