Wild Skies' Ride in/Out Cabin in Flat Tops

We are 1 hr from Rabbit Ears Pass and are a secluded ride in/out cabin rental. We have anywhere from 32-36+ inches of new powder snow btw Wednesday night and today.:cheer2:
That is on top of the great base. We have had a total of over 255 inches of snowfall this season. We are better than Rabbit Ears because few people snowmobile in our area. Check out our Youtube video taken April 27, 2013, which was a great late spring, but we have already had more snowfall to date as of today then we did the entire season in 2012-2013.

It doesn't get more epic than our place this year. Call me if you want references. Lisa 970.926.0216

Great Snowmobiling now at Wild Skies 1hr from Steamboat Springs, CO/Rabbit Ears Pass

As the rest of the group posted NW CO/Routt County where Rabbit Ears is located has been getting an epic year of snowfall.

It is Friday, January 31, 2014 and to date our ride in/out from the front door cabin (which is an uncrowded - no need to trailer up alternative to Rabbit Ears and just 1 hour away) has had over 255+ inches of snowfall this season which is a record since I have been there (last 8 years). Between Wednesday and today we have had over 36 inches of fresh powder.

The video I am linking to below was taken April 27, 2013, but even last year we didn't get 250+ inches of snow by the time that video was taken. 250 is usually where we max out in May, and here it is only January and we have hit it. Usually the big snowfalls come March and April in our neck of the woods so I cannot image what the total snowfall will be by the end of the season. The base is great in our area and this fresh powder is icing on the cake.

Everyone knows Hahn's Peak and Rabbit Ears and Kremmling and Waldon and so you will be hard pressed to get to the powder if you don't arrive fast. But in our area very few go because we are so far off the beaten path and we are the only cabin rental in the area. Once you get to us there is no need to trailer up until you leave. I am happy to provide references if you want them.

The patio snow shot was taken at 7am this morning and we received another foot of snow after that photo was taken. The shot with the guys digging out-that was December 28th or so.

Aside from a trip to Grand Lake many years ago, I have done virtually no riding in Colorado. I always go up to the Snowys west of Laramie, which is only about 2 hours from me. IMO there is some GREAT riding there, and you're almost certain to find lots of snow if you venture a little ways from the trail. (There's a reason it's called the Snowy Range!)

As a change from that, I'm about to move to Farmington NM, and wondering where I'll ride, so I found this thread by searching for La Plata Canyon. Though I could do without the "telephone tough guys", it's nice to see that I will be keeping my sled to do some riding in the San Juans! Just have to avoid the two of them when I come up for some riding! (Ah, who am I kidding, I'll ride with anybody... :) )

Thanks for the info, and to the OP, come on out and ride, or head to the Snowies!
Chris

La Plata Canyon is fun, but you really have to pick and choose the days you ride it. It's VERY prone to avalanches, even on the trail towards the top.
