Where to ride at mnt. Hood ?

I live in Bend and ride Bachelor 2-3 times a week when the snow is good (deep). A group of us guys are going to Hood Feb. 15 to rent a cabin at gov. camp for three days. Where is a good place to ride off trail preferably? Hope the snow is deep at that time.

One of my roofing suppliers sets this up every year. We have a good time when we go. Charleys is a good place to have a beer or 6.

That's cool...well there are lots of trails...I've been up there four times and the only place I've found is frog lake, right by the frog lake sno park. And that's not very big - will be tracked out unless you get a big storm the night before. Try going on the mt. hood snowmobile club forum and asking the same question there - prolly a lot more luck getting an answer. Or just truck it over to adams - it's an hour from hood. hit the berry fields.

Riding On Hood

There are several riding areas around Hood. With the low snow conditions we are experiencing this year; your best bet at this time would be over on the White River snow park on Hwy 35. Head downriver, then east to the higher elevations. If we get some snow between now and when you arrive, we can give you some more places to play. Head over to the Mt. Hood Snowmobile club website and post when it gets closer.

Sorry Mt hood has very little to offer for boondocking. If you rate Bend a 7 then that makes Hood about a 2.5. Basicaly just forestry roads. One open meadow is frying pan lake out of Skyline and Bonne Meadows out of White pass. This year snow level has made it worst. Great place to take new people to trail ride
