Are the maps from either SLP or Dynotech good enough where you can just load them and run them without all the adjustments? The reason I ask is I live in Iowa and take about 6 trips out west each year and perfer to just ride while out there instead of fiddeling with the sled while there.
Also how well and easy is it to change from 10,000-12,000 in elevation out west and then back to 0-2000 for back in Iowa?
I have a 2010 Dragon 800 and took it on 2 trips out west last year after buying it and it ran fine. Altought from what it sounds like you don't know what you are missing out on until you have the PC-V.
.
Are most of the maps spot on from the beginning where I can just load them and not have to worry about anything so I can just enjoy my trips out west?
great info guys
sorry if i'm hijacking but how do i find out what update map my d8 has i'm going to put a slp pipe and pc-V on it and was planning on running the slp map but not sure which update map i got
thanks garth
i guess i'll see if i can see the colors of the injectors
Kraven, sometimes it's ok for other people to be right. I've been reading your posts for a couple years and you seem to really want to help but really man your not a dynojet/ mapping expert. You don't own a pcv, autotune, af gauge, slp pipe, make maps or even have a 800! You can't discount experience. Diamonddave has some.
I will say that you can internet research and pass it on like no other.
I can also tell you that out of the dozen 800's I have autotuned so far that the maps are close to the slp one. Much closer than the dynotech ones are. The slp map would work excellent with a little adjustment in one range for the stock pipe sleds I am familiar with.
Minus 40,
The last time I heard from you is on hardcore sledder when you started that obsessively weird thread about me (Thread title "Kraven", started by-40 on HCS) and your failed attempt to have my signature edited. Apparently my signature upset you. Perhaps an agenda, jealousy over my past list of sleds, never got to build & race a 9-second car???.........who knows.
Shortly thereafter you were run off of H.C.S. on a rail.
And my signature is still there.
LOL I'd forgotten. You make it sound pretty serious, all I asked (politely)is for you to tune down the 2 page sig cuz it was extremely annoying to scroll past that. I like to read the posts and a short sig is good not some egomaniac,s 2 page list. I was then advised I could turn that feature off and all was good. Great attempt to make me look bad.
I was run off? Heck I'm mad now, I didn't know that, was it you that run me off? I quit that site cuz of all the constant sled bashing. That place sure can be immature. Glad your doing well over there.
I'm not jealous, just amused at your need for the world to know your accomplishments. I actually have built cars and such just don't feel the need to brag it up on a snowmobile site.
When I came to this site 1 1/2 years ago, I was a proponent of the PC-3, (Remember those?, the predecessor to the PC-5 you now claim to be an expert on?) and I was accused of working for Dynotech, and others posted that the PC-3's are not necessary.
Sigh, yes I had owned pc3, just don't think it was important for the world to know. And 1 1/2 years makes you a newby here so you might want to refrain from using that as a bragging point but it's your call.
Now you claim to be a master "tuner" with PC-5's, interesting......................I didn't know that I couldn't tune an 800 or a PC-5 if I only had a PC-3 and a 700 CFI??
I have never claimed to be an expert or a master tuner. You are trying to tell others that have actual experience with a pcv and an 800 that they are wrong
On hardcore sledder, I have (3) pinned threads that have over 20,000 hits in less than 1 year alone, not to mention (4) pinned threads here under increasing your IQ, which offer factual info and help to all.
WOW, I've read those, good job. Sounds like you feel mighty important about that
Experience you say? I've been wrenching on race cars for 33 years, 26 years on sleds, ATV's, and Watercraft. That 9.47 E.T. 137+M.P.H. Colt was built by me on a shoestring budget in my garage when I was 22.
Awesome. I only wish, wait a minute.......oh never mind
So, with all your experience and long list of accomplishments, why not actually post the alleged info (PC-5 maps that you claimed to have created with that ONE season of experience you might have) so that it might serve to help others,
well I was thinking of just blindly promoting someone else work and not being open to others actual experience of matters at hand in their situation but that's already being done. I subscribe to the theory of "your not learning anything when your mouth is flapping". I do share my experience and opinion when I think it's appropriate. Post counts, view counts, stickys and internet hero status just doesn't appeal to me
Rather that criticizing people that do.
Isn't that what this site is suppose to be about?
Well thought out and written post -40. I have to agree with everything you said. I believe Kraven over reacted and ended up making himself look bad. Maybe he had had a couple drinks or amybe a bad day?
I had never been on hard core sledder before. I searched out the thread in question and read it. The funny thing about it is the consensus of that thread was the majority of the people seemed to agree with -40. Jealousy of your accoplishments? Give me an F'n break! I don't think I would have brought that up. Oh well.
I've never understood the reason for people to feel that they must show and tell their life accomplishments to others in trying to prove they know more. Who cares?
Now if you want to take some pictures of you helping out those that are less fortunate like helping feed the hungry at your local shelter or being a Big Brother for a less fortunate kid, than by all means show it up.
Getting back to the thread...
It's ok to be a little egotistical in this world however, it can bite you in the a$$ when you completely discount someone else's ideas, thoughts, happenings, etc. Being open minded and understanding that sometimes other products and ideas will only make your own product or life better can certainly help. Getting to the promise land is never a one way street; especially when it comes to sleds.
