Where do I find heat reflection tape?

My pipe is starting to melt stuff. I appears there used to be tape in places that is no longer there. Where can I buy this stuff?

I don't know about putting tape on a pipe (probably why it's not there anymore) but I get all my heat tape and header wrap from Jegs.com

Any automotive store has it. Powder Keg, its not tape on the pipe, I'm guessing its the stuff on the underside of the hood and belly pan (the shiny aluminized reflective stuff) right?

You can get it in different widths as well.

yep that is the stuff. It is all ove the underside of the hood and on most plastic around the pipe. There seems to be small pieces that have torn or just cam off and now the plastic is starting to melt. I will check the auto parts store, Thanks.

Get it at the hardware store. It is used for tapeing furnace ducts. One roll will last for years.

Yep, works great and cheaper then automotive store. Stuff I found was a heavy foil tape...think it was couple inches wide.

I got a big roll at Home Depot,I think the actual automotive stuff might be thicker, but have never had a problem and have used this stuff for years!!!!!!!!!!!

I've used a lot of it on my sled too, and I've always bought it as "metal tape" anywhere you can buy ducting for HVAC. Also, if you don't think it isn't thick enough to stop the melting, just put more on top of itself.

You can buy thicker mil tape but the Home Depot tape works great on light weight hoods, stock hoods and cables near the exhaust. Just add layers of tape in the problem areas and save weight. If you have a problem area you may need thicker insulation tape or header wrap.
And don't to forget to wipe the surface down with isopropyl alcohol before you install more tape, that may be the problem you are experiencing since you say "It appears there used to be tape in places that is no longer there."
