when it goes from bad to horrible

Man I got the death sentence call today from my dealer. What I thought was originaly just a blown intake boot has become the death of my motor. When my tech pulled my drive clutch my spring was broke. Then he realized the recoil spring was broke. Thinking on the positive side I hoped it was just a intake boot blown out. Well turns out the boot was blown out, the pistons were severely burnt so I was still hoping I would get away with just top end. Nope, turns out a piece of my cylinder broke off, causing mild crank damage but blew two holes in the bottom of the case. Pretty much the motor is a waste. Are there any options other than a Oem 800 cfi4? I know I can buy a used one but I mean aftermarket. The 1100 from brad is probably outa my wallet capacity. Anyone know of a smoking deal on a cfi4 or got a different idea.

that sucks! If your wanting to keep the sled have indy dan build you an engine. The PA 1100 is awesome but I would sell you my Tpro for less

That sucks, but look on the bright side.

Sounds like a perfect chance to put a suzuki in it, find a wrecked one and start building. IMO or part it out.

Either way I hope it gets better from here.

Put a suzuki in it? Is that a joke? Not trying to be an a$$ but haven't herd that one. Assume you mean an ac 800?

Sorry to hear about your woes! That is a bad situation to be in.

If you have any goodwill with your dealer, and if you are anywhere close to warranty, I would push them to push Polaris for some kind of fix. Sounds like it all started with a defective intake boot to me.

If that does not work out, depending on the $$ in your pocket, I would try to find a good used CFI4 800 motor for reasonable and put the PMS or dragon saver fix kit in it right away, or have Indydan put a longrod kit in it. If you send in a good motor that kit is not as expensive if I recall.

The 700 CFI4 motor would be a second option if you can find one reasonable, everything should just drop in and work other than reprogramming the ECM for the 700 and probably changing the pipe.

Third option would be what some guys on here have done which is put an 800 big block Polaris (with the crank bearing fix already in), which means going to a carb setup and special pipe setup, would take some added tinkering to make it work, but it has been done, all the stuff is available to do it.

Or if you are itching for a newer sled anyway, just sell it off as a rolling chassis and get a newer sled...

Thought about selling as a roller. I just can't afford a new sled and turbo. I have spent some time now on the pro rmk and it is great.....really great but its weak in stock form. Riding a stocker is just not as fun, no matter how much better the chasis is. Think I found a good deal on a cfi4! Gonna make some decisions very soon.

Well after waiting on some parts from polaris my dragon and I are back on the snow. I ended up picking up a 09 cfi4 motor from Kevin in Denver. Thank you so much for the hook up! Everything on the sled is fixed! Went to wolf last nite and watched the sunset ( thanks for the idea tudizzle) and rode to just after midnight. Sled ran awesome. Didn't even have to adjust my fuel settings anywhere other than idle. Pulled very hard! Can't even explain the relief riding a turbo is as.compared to a stocker!
