whats with all the lifted trucks in Utah

I think I detect a little rage, did my lifted dodge run you off Vernal ave or what? There are a lot of lifted trucks here in Vernal,I used to have one of the best looking lifted trucks in town. Not now, mine is just average now. There are almost as many lifted trucks in this town as there are Harleys.

No, never been run off the road, but I just think it's dumb and a colossal waste of money :)
As RedLine guy stated, you could be dumping that money into a 900 RMK :D :D :D

No, I see everyone's point with the "its your money" thing, but I can still think of about 100 things that are an AWFUL lot more useful than a brand new pickup truck with a lift kit financed in .... on stock gears  .. that is the exact same lifted truck everyone else and their dog in vernal has .... etc ....

My personal favorite is a lifted truck with a 18" drop hitch and "GIT R DONE" sticker in the window! The driver of that truck is sure to be really intelegent for sure! and By the way who in there right mind would condider a $17,500.00 900RMK a bad investment I think every one should own one myself. any one want to buy mine !

so your telling me my lifted half ton on 35's is not cool?

"Need" a lifted truck ... uh huh ;)

Who "needs" a lifted truck? Like I said, if you wanna do one, buy a 20 year old truck, and build a dedicated off-road rig...IE, one that's been converted to a solid axle, running a MINIMUM 38" tire, has had the fenders cut out to lower center of gravity, etc..

Somebody please explain to me what puting a 4-6" lift on your truck and running 35" tires accomplishes as far as "off-road ability" other than raising your center of gravity and making the truck roll over.

I have yet to see how running a 35x12" tire adds so incredibly much more off-road capability to your otherwise stock truck that it was worth the $4,000+ that it cost to have put on ..

And then with that said, what additional "off road" capability that it added, it also made it that much easier to tear up the truck and stress the **** out of the front end, etc, costing even more ...

Buy a 4-wheeler, they're more fun, go more places, and are a lot cheaper.... :)

Call me an idiot, I don't care, I think it's pointless to lift your pickup truck...

With that said, I do think your tahoe looks good :)

It's for looks .... admit it .... it does look good, and it really didn't give you a whole hell of a lot more off-road capability than it already had ;)

like I said, go ahead and call me an idiot, I'm used not not being popular :D

And, for sake of argument, I did put larger-than-stock tires on my truck so it looked better ....

I guess I've just seen so many generically lifted trucks since I moved to vernal I just think %99 of them look stupid these days.

bah.

I have been ranting on the internet entirley too much since my sled broke and the snow started melting.

I'm going to go buy a microwave now.

how is it your brag about how you go offroad so much and every picture you put up your truck is on pavement? lol

BWAA HA HA...I was just thinking the same thing...you beat me to the punch. I don't ever see alot of lifted trucks w/ dub's on them in some of the places we hunt. It must take too long to clean the mud and muck out of their bling bling??? I'm going to generalize here but most of the guys that I know that have huge lifts are all about what they've got ("look at my lifted D-max...check out my lifted Tahoe w/ 20's") and how they look to everyone else ("I put plenty of money elsewhere also..."). I guess that's what just what makes this forum so much fun.

My truck is lifted but there ain't no DUBS on it. LOL
My truck ain't no city truck. And it doesn't look like one. Just take a look at the paint.
I just have a 2.5" lift to clear the 35" tires.

Pretty sure you have heard the saying

STOCK SUCKS !

My Rancho rides soooo much better than stock on my Hoe.
Same goes for my max.
Not showing off just showing how much BETTER trucks look, ride and places you can go without worrying about f'n up your truck.
Ever smash your running boards on a dip/rut/waterbar ? curb ! lol
Most newer suv's & trucks arnt any more capable than your mini vans with there clearance.

With a lift you get better ground clearance, better breakover angle, better aproach angle, better departure angle, and room for bigger tires. Wich helps for airing down to crawl up the rocks. Maybe there isn't much for off-roading in Vernal...that is the only reason I can see you saying that a lift does not help off road. Yeah there are some downsides.....higher center of gravity, lower fuel mileage, strain on drivetrain....but hey you still have to use a truck like a truck...NOT A HIGHWAY QUEEN!!! Dogmeat...maybe you just need a lowered Escalade on 22's????

I'll agree with you on the additional clearance that a lift provides but I'd be willing to bet that the D-Max pictured see's less than 5 miles of dirt roads a year. If it was a truck that you took off road, and you truly cared about how much better they look, you would have added some mud flaps to keep the rock chips to a minimum. Especially w/ the offset that your lift puts on the front end. Sounds like Scott knows what I'm talking about...I know that I put some flaps on my Chev after I saw the spray from one trip off the pavement.
