What's the scoop on the new Polaris oil?

I thought Polaris was coming out with a new oil for us, but haven't heard anything about it lately. My dealer is telling me they are still running the VES gold for the new 2010 updated motors... Anyone seen this new oil yet?

Oh gees an oil thread. JK :D:beer; Actually, I thought I read it is just supposed to have better tolerance to heat while maintaining lubrication properties. I'm hoping ElectroTech will chime in. I believe has more insight as to what was changed.

Oh geez hahaha guys the old snake oil huh? I would run amsoil but all the heresay around says to me that Polaris won't warranty the motor if you don't run their oil. Then you get guys saying Poo wont warranty the 2010 updates unless its running the new oil, then dealers say they are running the gold. Would be nice to see some actual data on this new oil (Blackstone Labs type data).

The no warranty without running their oil thing is Illeagal, as long as the oil your running meets their recognized SAE specs they have no choice but to warranty your motor if you didn't do something else to void it.

Clean burning, low odor, smokeless oil formulation designed to improve exhaust valve performance. VES Gold offers maximum engine protection at high RPM and meets Category 4 low temperature requirements.

Cleaner burning oil improves exhaust valve performance

Improved rust and corrosion inhibitor package

Synthetic base oil formulation offers excellent load carrying abilities to reduce engine wear

Reformulated for a more pleasant exhaust odor

This is right from polaris, and no bs when are tech in back was doing the updates on the 800 he could tell who wasnt using ves cause the exhasut valves were really bad, he said klotz is the worst oil he has ever seen for exhaust valve motors, he was pretty impressed with how clean the valves were with ves, he did around 30 updates so i will take his word for what its worth.

The VES plus is designed to reduce cold start recoil effort, and to enhance corrosion prevention. Odor may also be reduced. This is straight from LubeTech's tech.

Glad my 600's are happy with the Synthetic/Blue Blend. Lol, Amsnotoil.

My guess is that it is to help them with the 2010 emissions standard. We all love our 2 strokes and modifying the oil is one way to help meet them. Just my .02

Do you have a link to this info? I'm sort of a rating kinda guy. I like to see the specifications on the oils. Sounds like they possibly lowered the cold pour from what you are saying. If the dang stuff was rated we could easily see if it went from an FC to an FD rating. Thus telling us it is burning cleaner. They don't even have the spec sheet that I could find online. I'm sure it's a plenty good oil. I just wish they would tell us something about it other than this is what they recommend. That doesn't work for me. I like to see numbers and ratings, but hey that's just me. I know there is nothing wrong with the oil and it works just fine.

cummins17, so when your techs do the update do they clean the valves as well? A sled i just bought used was updated at the dealer you work for, just wondering if i need to pull it apart and clean them!!!! thanks!

You will be fine, he cleans all of them, in the update thet put new exhaust valve springs in it so he cleans everything.

More fun with oil

What about IndyDan's advise to run non synthetics? I think he see's enough cranks and engines to justify his knowledge. Same performance, plus a much lower price seems like the way to go! Don't know if your exhaust valves will be THAT MUCH dirtier anyway. Its probably a good idea to clean you exhaust valves once a year as it is.:beer;

On my '09 RMK 800, I siphoned all the VES Gold out of the oil tank and I'm putting in Polaris Blue (standard) oil in for the first tank or two of gas. From what I read, it will help seat the rings vs. using the VES Gold. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

IndyDan, did you ever find out if there was actually a difference between the Polaris blue and VES oil? I remember reading a thread on it a year or two ago.

This is the thread I was referring to: http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114257&highlight=ves+gold
