I have a 09' D8 dragon 163, I ride between 4-7k, what clutching works best, mine is all stock, 19-42 gearing, and slp can, 64g weights w/stock spring, 58-40 helix w/red,black spring, and only pulling 79-8k rpms, thanks

no expert here but those weights are WAY too heavy. i ride about 5000 to 7500 with same track, same stock clutch springs, same helix and when i was running 10 series weights i could only pull 60 grams (8150 to 8250). only difference is i am geared 19-43. i have changed to slp mtx weights and am in the process of getting them just right and can alresdy tell a big difference in performance and i am only turning 8050 to 8100, tunning to get 8200.

another thing if you havent done this already is get fresh springs in your clutches, its fairly cheap and will help if your springs are old.

Ya, i was told this weekend to throw in some 62's, and my springs are all brand new.

I found if you ride in the mountains, gearing down always helped alot.

The other thing is stay on top of the belt deflection. I never go out with out checking it. It's very important . Also toss your belt after 500 miles specially hard mountain miles.

the rpms talk is up for debate!! almost seems like it depends on who ya talk to. the dealer service manager told me 8100 to a max of 8200. there are guys on here that swear it will run so much better if you get it to the 8300 range. i havent been able to hit 8300 but a few times and this was on a hard packed trail so i dont consider that turnning 8300. seems like to me no matter what i did with the 10 series weights i only saw small increases or decreases in rpms. i started with the weights that were put in from the dealer (10-64 7950 to 8000 rpms) and eventually found the 10-60s to work the best (8150 to 8200). let me know how whatever you do works

I've got a set of 10-60's I pulled out of my Assault....PM me if interested.

I, too, am shooting for that 8100ish RPM. With any luck, I will hit it tomorrow.

rpm's

If you want to gain rpm's, get rid of the stock primary spring, and
put one in that has a higher finish rate, this will bring up the r's.. The finish rate on the stock primary spring is only 330.

blue/pink 140-340
green/pink 160-340
team green 150-340

I could be wrong but i thought the stock primary spring had the same numbers as the slp blue/pink (Stock 140 330 slp 140 340) the only diffrence is where the measurement is taken. ie:stock taken at a point that is not compressed as far and therefore a lighter weight. not sure what the measurements are off the top of head, if i get time ill try to look.

again no expert here but i think this is what i was told:face-icon-small-con
