whats the most reliable sled

not the most powerful or floats the best none of this matters if the parts wont stick together.
I have a pro x2 800 and It is always broke the previous owner never had probs only 500 miles though. like today broke a hose on my shock burnt a belt broke my recoil. last time out belt primary clutch and motormount
so it may be time to make it go away.
so D8 OR M8

The most relieable sled is the best owner. I can garantee you someone who checks over their sled and is really good at maintaince has the least problems of anyone. Most of the things you said are things you could of found with maintaince.

the spring inside the recoil broke and on the prox you have to pull the motor
not a frayed broke chord or I would be on it. and the motor mount went out in the backcountry and took out the clutch with 600 miles on the sled sorry I am meticulous and go over things every ride cause I dont like being stranded I ride alone
and the shock hose is stupid design it is long and runs along the center of the track between all the skid wheels it is askin for it

my loaner mm 700 odometer quit at 6500miles......3 years ago. that thing only gets beat on, never loved and always works. I don't even cover it and call it bad names........it begs for more.....LOL

in all seriousness, if you are buying new, I would head for the best dealer service. most new sleds are reasonably equal and all have problems.

if you are staying with a two stoke and don't do your own work and limited maintenance then go with the best dealer. if you really want the most reliable then buy a yamaha.

be like us and have 5 people all riding the same style of sled and have about 8 parts sleds. You never seem to run out of parts

like us with the old yamaha phazers!

I have to say thats a very true statement, my dad had an xlt special that had almost 10,000 miles and the motor was never touched, and thats a motor known to blow. Had a 700 xc with tons of miles as well and never been touched. Knock on wood, but all our sleds we have had have higher miles and only fixing is maintenance like greasing, changing oil, and cleaning carbs. Im going to say they both have/had their problems, the m8 is perfected and the d8 is new. If you want a reliable sled, a 700ves edge is very reliable.

if you really want a nitro or an apex then get one. as long as you can do basic and i mean basic maintenance then it should pretty much run forever. change the oil and maybe the belt once a year. that really shouldn't be an issue for anyone to do. you cann't get more of a pull and go sled. just for the record i ride a polaris and love it, so i'm not out trying to push a specific sled because of brand loyalty, fwiw.

I have a MM700 that I loan out as well. It gets no love either but always, I mean always runs like a champ. My M8 has been problem free as well. The M7's and M8's have proven to be reliable sleds. My riding partner has over 3500 miles on his M7 and never touched the motor.
