What's the ideal max RPM level? I'm hitting 8450.

Sounds like you need to run heavier weights in your primary to bring your rpms down. Your reving way to high. You should feel it pull harder then also
I hear 8350-8450 is the spot 
Not for me, last time out in the am was hitting 8250-8300 and pulled like an angry baboon, then later in the afternoon (after temps had dropped significantly) was hitting 8450-8500, laid over like crazy..

I have the pipe/can and the stage 2 clutching. Mine seems to be 8350-8400 the majority of the time but I hit 8550 a few times also... And it retarded the motor twice on me. No codes, just let out of the throttle and got right back in it like nothing ever happened. Rev limiter? I'm running at sea level in the UP. I was considering switching to 10-72s (stock wants 10-70s) and seeing how they run compared to the MTXs...

If Running in the flatlands I would switch out the stock 40 helix.
can any of you guys that are turning higher rpm (8300-8500) please post some track speeds that your turning? looking for untracked deep snow pulls. not track poaching with 100 yd run at the hill.
both my 16 axys 155 2.6 sleds with slp pipe and carls clutching is 39-40 max mph. my sleds will not pull any more than 8150, run 8100rpm 99% time.

Im not talking about on the trail, it's in the ravines, sidehilling and playing in the trees.

I see 42 min -46 mph ill check again next big deep day ,that was waist deep fresh powder.
for the guys that think I need heavier weights , I kind of like it there .. made some 850s take a second look where I was going .. then they left... he he .

Jaws pipe/GGB can and Dalton clutching I am seeing 8400-8500 rpm in 1-2 feet of fresh powder climbing out of a bowl. runs crisp.
Running over 8300 you are losing power!
Last year my 16 with the factory 3" and chaincase (low gearing) with the SLP pipe the track speed was 40-42 on good long pull in deep snow.
I turned it 83-8400, drop the it down to 81-8200 and would loose 4-5 mph track speed.
My 17 has the 2.6 on it, slp pipe and geared lower then stock. Should finally get some good track speed numbers this weekend. Eric
Why do you say that? All the aftermarket pipe companies recommend 8300 as a minimum....why would they recommend it if it was loosing power?
