What's "The Fix" for the Pro Motors?

Can any of the more in touch riders explain "The Fix" for the Pro 800 motors to me. Many dealers and aftermarket manufactors are selling pistons and other parts, I can't remember everything that is included in the kit but why is it a good idea to pay about 600 dollars for an engine that runs perfect and seems to have all the power you need in a sled. Also how many have bought these engine fix's and what does it do for you? Thanks.

the 'fix kit' was designed for the Dragon motor's. where it was needed.
The pro motors have not needed it. but if it will fit the dealerships will sell it......

The correct oil ratio.
Emissions standards are forcing the manufactures to lean them out from the factory.

more and more the pro motor has shown problems with cylinder skirts breaking, and more often piston rings flaking ,at low milage (less than a 1000 miles for mine)causing loss of peak rpm. there are a couple of different options, rkt sells a piston kit,and a drop in kit and a drop in kit.drop in kit gives you a head and different port timing and a nice performace gain.mtn tech has a different piston and a cylinder spacer gives a little preformace bump.both seem to address the problems with this motor. those who don,t beleive there is problem with this motor are fooling them selves.imho:clock:

Longer rods.............................. Not tighter pistons!
whats your PTC clearance if your pistons is OK?0.10 mm?0.20 mm?0.30mm?
mine showed 0,25 mm piston to cylinder clearance.WAY too sloppy:face-icon-small-dis.disaster waiting to happen.

You forgot the important one:)

Obviously the most common failure with the pro so far is engine related and it has come down to cylinder wall and piston tolerance and wear concerns that have caused most of the problems and do not forget about the engine crank failures as well.

I think the long rod design has helped to address the biggest most common concerns but it is not clear that it is helping with the loose piston clearance. Obviously every one has one form or another of a kit that helps when set up correctly. Obviously turning up the oil flow will only help in the short and long term both so it is the most inexpensive ounce of prevention you can get!

Have Polaris addressed this problem in the 013 motors or are they just fudging through this clearance problem, by making other changes..... and not really giving the masses what they really would kill to have, an industry leading engine that would put the Pro so far ahead of the competition that with the chassis they have now they could never catch up. People have been waiting for that motor for ever. I have searched through this forum and did a considerable research elsewhere and this is not just a dragon engine problem.

The biggest ??? is do you have a warranty . If you do turn up the oiler and ride if not I would think long and hard on a kit .
Mine is ready to turn 1500 miles so I am tearing it down and installing the fix kit from mnt tech. I will report back on piston to cylinder clearance when I get it apart. I am hoping my cylinders are not cracked .
