Whatever happened to POWDER BOUND???

I always loved watching Powder Bound movies as a kid. That's all I would look forward to when dad took me to the snowmobile swapmeets. Where'd they go?

Yeah, those were the days. They had a couple hot chicks riding with then too. Yamaha Exciter long tracks, woo hoo. And the XLT's

They still ride, they're in the Jackson, WY region. They have been very busy and successful with their businesses and are still involved with the Jackson hillclimb and have done a lot with young kids racing 120s in the MWR snocross events over the past several years.

I have a couple of them...good vids. Fairly cheezy by today's standards...but good powder vids.

First sled'n vids I ever bought, have 4 of them, some great vids for their time.

Wow, this is stepping back in time. A friend of mine called me and said "hey, someone started a post asking whatever happened to Powder Bound? Get on Snowest and check it out!"

I have not watched those tapes in years. Yep, those were the days for sure. I knew all these guys and gals. Just a bunch of friends out video taping each other goofing around. No attitudes, no acting, not much on props (FLIT really was a Flat Lander In Training). Rumor has it that the videos stopped when the safety and well being of the riders became a concern. As the crazyness in the videos escalated, it was time to step up or step out. They really were all friends and the thought of getting someone seriously hurt or killed was just not an option. After being involved in a couple of avalanches, I remember the Producer saying "I'm sure my fat cells need oxygen to survive, maybe I should stop doing this!"

For those that are asking, Brian and Shannon (one of the hot chicks in the videos) live in Jackson, WY. They run a Subcontracting Business that Brian likes to call "A Day Care Facility for Adults!" They still ride sleds, but much of their winter efforts are spent working on the kids race sleds and hauling their little girl (8) and little boy (6) around the snocross circuits. If anyone attended the Western Snocross Nationals in Sandy, UT this past January, they were the kids that finished 1 and 2 in the 120 Champ Mod class.

You can catch up with them at the snocross races (look for the trailer with a bunch of little sleds and a bunch of crazy kids running around). Or, you can find them at the World Championship Hillclimb in Jackson every year helping run the show. Stop in and say hello, they would love to hear from you!

The best thing that came out of these videos was the friendships that developed because of our common desire for this crazy sport. A lifetime of memories for sure!

Ride safe!

I've always wanted to make it to Jackson but stuff always came up. I'd love to meet some of the Powder Bound crew.

The thing I loved most about these guys is they just plain had fun, and would be very open and friendly at the shows without showing any arrogance or anything like that. Some of the people in films nowadays just seem to be arrogant as$holes that think their $hit don't stink. But Powder Bound was just a group of guys having a good time doing the sport they love.

Where it all started

Powder Bound was the first of it's kind. They started it all. Lot of folks out there making the big bucks with sled vidoes. I loved riding with them. Still do when I get the chance.
