People but one hook all the time. Mostly for oval racing but but lots of people only use a hook on the brake side for left hand sidehilling. Your hand needs to stay on the grip on the right or you can't reach the throttle. If the seller was selling only packs of two, people would say "why the he!! do I have to pay for two when all I want is one!" That's why they sell skis one at a time, in case you hurt one. I agree to a point, that they should say "available in pairs" or something, but it did say "hook" lower down. I think this whole thread is much ado about nothing, but I relpyed too
