What would you get from the title of this ad?

Bought some SLP bar end hooks. I bought based on the fact that in the title as well as in the ad it said HOOKS as in 2 plural. When he listed the contents I assumed it included the bar and hook as it says. Apparently the seller didnt realize this and states its only one hook. Paypal found in my favor unfortunately I had installed the single hook assuming like his ad said that it was backordered and the other would be sent. So I obviously cannot return it in orignal condition. This guy now mails me unendingly annoying little jabs since I said I would see what you all thought.

Please also note that I offered to split the cost of a second one and was given a rude comment stating that he cant be giving these things away. I also then agreed to buy another at full price if he would be polite and admit the ad stated HOOKS and adding an "s" in the english language means plural or 2. To which I got another story about how people try to lowball and rip him off all the time.

So heres the Ad what do you all think. I was thinking I was getting a good deal for 2 hooks, what I got was a pain im my arse that reminded me why ebay can at times really suck.

I recognize the picture is of one but I thought it was an example and since it stated HOOKS two times as well as handelbars and not bar end singular I just made the mistake of assuming he knew what the hell he was selling.

Flame if you like and if I am wrong I am man enough to admit it, but I hope I am not the only one who sees the work HOOKS as more than one.

I get 2 out of that, but further down it does say it comes with hook and grip. Take that as you will...

you look at the picture and this line were standing alone, how would you interpret it?

"INCLUDES HOOK AND CUSHION GRIP"

Your compromise to split would have been the right solution as I think there is a little fault to blame on both.

return it at your shipping and just chalk it up as a learning curve and get a refund from him. the price of the hook some time is just not worth the BS!

This kinda reminds me of when people were advertising "XBox360 box" and people were mislead and bid ridiculous prices for a box only.

The guy's title says "hooks" and IMO the long winded text under it is BS. All it needs to say is "This auction is for one hook" no plurals anywhere.

I think you took the high road here, I'd just give a negative feedback and consider it a relatively cheap lesson learned. It's not worth having high blood pressure for another week to deal with this loser.

I see the seller selling SLP hooks ... but the auction being for one hook. Ebay purchases are all about confirming exactly what the the merchandise is before purchasing. I learned the same lesson a few years back It's all about the "fine print".

yea but when you look at alot of stuff online it only shows one when it comes with 2. Look at the ad on slp's website for powder pro skis.

or is the price only for one ski?

This was exactly my point. I cant send it back I installed it thinking he was sending the other due to the possible backorder issue, It wanst the money, or the return or anything just wanted him to man up and recognize his mistake. I have the emails and if he continues to mail me I will share those too, they will show how reasonable I attempted to be but wasnt given the same courtesy in return. In all its no biggy just figure I can get this sellers name out there for his great treatment of customers.

I think it is purposely misleading. It states hookS and people would automatically assume you would get a pair....do you just buy one sock?? Why would you only buy one hook unless it said "replacement" hook. Not sure what you should do from here. Good luck.

Looks like a professional ebay assshole. Knows how to word things so ebay/paypal says "Nope, what was sold is listed in the ad" when you file a complaint.

I'd call/email/text/mail/harass the guy to get you a refund.

True but looking at that picture as well as his top description I figured it was a stock photo and description. I tried to be reasonable with him in offering to split the cost on a second as well as even offering to buy a second if he would just stop being rude in his responses, no such luck. I recognize I was not 100% correct in this but truth in advertising wouldnt hurt either. Just beware if you need anything from him. BTW there are at least 2 other places I found online with that stock bold description after doing some searching.

So in reality, by you offering to buy a second....you also see where the confusion comes from and your not really mad about that BUT mostly upset at him because he is being rude.

it is not a very good auction listing. It clearly says hooks meaning you get two. Both sides. then it says "INCLUDES HOOK AND CUSHION GRIP". Wich you could take as it comes with the hook and cushion grip or you could take it as it comes with one hook and one cushion grip. He should have clearly stated in the auction that each item includes one hook and one grip. If you need a set you need to buy two.
Send him a link so he sees how every one else interperts it also.

I have gone through something simular with the local drag strip. Their flyer for the race listed $500 payout each day for pro snow/bike. At the bottom it says purse is guaranteed. when I won they only gave me $260. They even anounced on the loudspeakers right before the final round that it was for $500 to the winner. Talked to one of the owners and he just said that the purse was guaranteed meaning they were going to have a purse. The dollar amount was not guaranteed and he was sorry if I understood it that way. I understood it that way because every person that saw the entry form and every person that enterd understood it that way. Every other track that I have raced in the northwest when they say they have a guaranteed purse it is a guaranteed purse. I was in bremerton wa once and only 4 or 5 guys showed up and they still gave $500 to the winner.
Usually if the dollar amount is not guaranteed the entry form or fliers will say $500 winner and then say at the bottom or some where else "based on 16 bike field" as a example. Then you know if more people show up the purse is bigger and if less show up the purse is smaller.
