What would this Ram score?

For those of you that know something about Bighorn Sheep, what do you think this Ram would score? I don't know much about sheep I just thought this looked like a pretty solid Ram. Do you think he would go 180".

I can relate to what you said very well. After spending two long days with these sheep on public ground in a unit where hunting tags are issued, you feel as if you formed a comradery of some sort. After about 5 hours of acting very submissive they allowed me to get close enough for about 50 real quality photographs.

I would say he is over 180. I am a hunter and have hunted big horn sheep for a few years and have yet to get one. They are the big game hunters ultimate prize. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have a hard successful hunt knows how much work and dedication it takes to get animal like this. I am going to send these pictures to my dad and see what he thinks this ram will score. He has pretty good judgement on this and my grandpa is the Boone and Crockett scorer in this area. Those are some beautiful pictures you got there.

First, beautiful pics of a great animal! I for sure wouldn't turn down the opportunity to accurately shoot an arrow his way. :)

My Grandfather's hunting partner of 50+ years was the first person in Oregon to kill the grand slam of sheep with a bow. His mounts all made P&Y...nothing extra huge, but all worth bragging about. :)

That would be such a prized collection. Anyone whom thinks that hunting is easy should come along on a sheep hunt. I cant even count how many miles that I have walked, carrying my rifle and a pack; and have yet to take a legal ram. Hopefully this year I can get away from work and do more hunting!

I do alot of bowhunting and rifle hunting myself. I had read that our state record Rocky Mountain Bighorn was 182". Since taking these photos and showing them to a few people who know sheep, some thought it may go 185" since it carries it's mass so well, although it appears to be only 9 or 10 years old.

I E-mailed these pictures to my dad. He wants me to tell you that you have gotten some beautiful photos here!!! He studied them prety hard and said that that ram would definetly be 190+. If you look at the picture where he is looking at you, look how far his horns drop. They are below his jaw line. He also wants to know what state these pictures were taken. I told him that your info said you were from Nevada. He figured that these might be taken in Montana.

WOW! Those are amazing animals. I have been trying for years to draw a tag in Colorado. If I got one like that I would have to get a full body mount! You could frame those pics and put them in the sledding cabin. BEAUTIFUL!:D

Wow those are sweet!! I took these last summer pretty close to Elko, O Neil Basin to be exact. not as big, but still pretty cool, I couldn't believe how close they let me get to them, I'll bet I was 30 yds from them.

They are Nevada Rams. It is amazing how close you can get to these animals without spooking them. In Nevada they don't see much hunting pressure and apparently haven't developed a healthy fear of man. I figured those O'neil Rams would hang out a little higher on the mountain.

pictures can be tough to judge but that ram looks to be over 40inches no prob his horn go up & back down low on his jaw, carries great mass all the way through out his horn.looks like 9-10year old from what i can see.if you had some side pictures it would help in judging score, but he looks over 190 or a very high 180 truly incredible ram dont see many like him.:beer;:beer;:D:D

My Gandparents went to my parents place for supper last night. Dad showed Grandpa your pictures and he said that ram was definetly over 190. He has been the area Boone and Crockett scorer since the mid sixties.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. I've shown these photos to some locals who know sheep and most everyone places him in the 190 range. It makes these pictures a little more valuable to me knowing I may have been face to face with a potential state record.

do you have any pics from the side.i was looking at my ram & its only 176 & that thing makes it look tiny.thanks for the screen saver by the way been looking at him everyday

The camera isn't anything special or expensive, it's a Kodak ZD710. It's a 7 megapixel superzoom with a 10x zoom. It will fit in your pocket when snowmobiling or whatever, but I've found the clarity and resolution rivals some of the high dollar SLR's. I've been impressed by the few pictures I've taken with it. It looks as though you don't have to spend alot of money to get decent photos anymore.
I'll see if I have a good side pic and post it later when I have time.
