What type of shades???

A couple weeks ago I spent 12 plus hours on the water with my "cheap stuff" rose lense safety glasses.
He11uva sunburn, but eyes were A OK.
(Actually spent 50 plus hours on the water in 6 days.)

Maf, don't doubt that, I used to think and feel the same way buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut then I fished one day with polorized optics and man couldn't believe the difference. Takes the glare off the water and you can see the fish coming in for the take much better. But hey if you wanna go for the cheep O's and are happy with em, go ahead. Cool thing about agency:D

I am sure there is alot of "you get what you pay for" in sunglasses.
But I may go 2 months on a pair or go through 2 pair in a day. (misplaced or wrecked)
I just can't afford to invest that much on an item that is so disposable.

I do have a nice pair (nice for me anyways) of "Blueblockers" for driving.
But ONLY for driving.
Not so much for excellent vision, but so light that I can't tell they are on.

I also like a big lense in front of my eye to minimize light coming in from the sides as well as reduce the wind beating the heck out of my eyes when I wear them sleding.

Since I am a dinosaur I wear the old style brown frame Vuarnet "cat-eye" style with prescription high contract scratch resistant brown lenses. They work great and fit snug. With a ball cap they provide total protection from the light and sun and wind.

Duh, you gotta have polarize glasses for fishing. NOt the same use as every day sit on em dropp'em glasses.:D
I take it you don't fish, If you fish a lot, you come to see the dif between high end glass that is polarized and cheep stuff. Fly fishing for 6 hours strait on a sunny day without the good stuff and your eyes will hate you for a few days afterwards.

I had some Dragons that were great....but I was OCD in protecting them since they were like 70 bucks. They cracked the lens frame in 2 spots this year so I went back to cheap sunglasses....went to the kiosk at the mall and got 2 pairs for 20 and I still have both and they are still scratch free. Plus no worries about them.

I used to buy the cheap ones and felt they were fine, until I tried a pair of quality glasses. I feel its night and day, I miss the ones l lost terribly.

I know sunglasses get lost, broke, scratched, etc. I can honestly tell you I am able to keep a good pair for at least two years, and I cant keep a cheap set for more than a couple of months. If you dont like them you wont take care of them, and if you end up buying a new set every month or two it will add up. Break down and buy a good pair, your eyes will thank you. I know there are more responsible people out there than me and the above theory doesnt hold true for everyone, but it does for me.

I had to stop at Carquest this morning and buy shaded safety glasses cause I had a killer headache yesterday from no shades. Cant wait to pitch these heavy pieces o' ****.

Another good note about good glasses is most of them are ANSI rated so if you are required to wear safety glasses at work you can wear them instead of safety glasses.

I hate spending all that cash on something that can get so easily lost or broke, but its like cocaine, I dont want to but I have to do it. Try it, it will make you feel gooood...:)

Squinting is free, sunglasses are for wimps! Actually, sunglasses bug the hell out of me. I've never been able to wear them for over a few minutes. Would they relieve eye strain if I did wear them?

After losing, dropping, stepping on, sitting on, falling in with, kids grabbing them and losing, someone stealing, scratched, bent, many many pair of sunglasses, I now wised up and go to the local "pump and munch" and get the $9 pair........

Ray Ban and Oakley are no longer in my vocabulary........

The Smith Shelters are my favorite, Hudsons a close second. Great for blocking wind and snow on the sides and you get a lifetime warranty, Smith is also an Idaho company...

right now I've had a pair of Oakley X-Metal XX for the past 4 yrs i guess... i like 'em, wear 'em out on the bike quite a bit without issue... though they can be a bit heavy...
