What type of shades???

Donated my sunglasses to the Yellowstone river system last night. Had them on my hat and the wind blew the hat off while jet boating. Got the hat, lost the glasses, Oakleys.

I am going crazy just one day later without them, but I want to try something other than Oakley's, had Ray-Bans, liked them well enough but they got too scratched to wear. What brands and types are you all wearing? I prefer them to not allow much light in on the edges and to fit tightly to my head.

Suggestions???

Minnetonka claimed a couple pairs of my oakleys... waste of a couple hundred... Wised up now, I found a pair from walmart..$15 work just the same. wont ever buy oakleys again.

Best glasses out there are Smith's. I use them all the time for work firefighting, and they can take way mor abuse than any of the Oakley's i've ever had.

x2 owned 5 pairs, 2 currently , lifetime warranty on them spend the coin and get their polorized ones. Been the difference between me slayin the fish somedays and my buddy doing ok. If you watch on whiskymilitia and steepandcheep online they will have them on sale for 80% off, got another pair coming in the mail as I type this

Thanks for the info, I was actually leaning towards some Smith's, secretly hoping some of you would chime that one in. I keep checking steep and cheap, I passed on some quite a while ago cause I still had mine, now I wish I would have purchased them. They actually have a set of polarized on there right now but not exactly what I am looking for.

They make about 50 different types from the big framed meterosexual I may be homo glasses down to what I would call normal glasses, you fellas with Smith's what are you favorite ones?

I actually wore a pair of Maui Jim's for a week that someone left at the house, awesome glasses, had to give them back when he came back for them. Damn. They were almost $300 so I no buy.

I am sorry, I tried the Wal-mart glasses and I just cant do it, amazing what quality polarized glasses are like. Cant go back.

Thanks fellas, my type of people on this site, enjoy the advice.

I have had smith sliders, just picked up their new version of the sliders work awesome, just lost a pair of their midsize frames. All black though loved em. Honestly I have had spys, ray bans, dragons, and by far the smiths are my favorite.

I currently have 3 pairs of Smith's. Used to wear Oakleys and loved them. Had 2 pairs over a couple years. Started working at a shop that carried Smith so I switched over.

Currently have the Hudson in Black with polarized lenses.

Serpico Chrome with non-polarized lenses

Threshold Slider with non-polarized

For working I wear the Slider's because they have a larger lenses to help protect my eyes from grass clippings and rocks(I mow lawns). I also wear them when mountain biking, because I can put in a clear lenses for in the woods.
For everyday wearing I use the Hudson's. I love the polarized lenses in them, and wish I had gotten the rest of them with them.

I also bought a pair for my father for his birthday.
Gallegos with a polarized lenses.

They have a bit bigger frame than my Hudson's and he really likes them. He was always happy with the cheap $15 glasses, but now wont go back.

If you only wear cheap glasses they are fine. But once you wear a real nice pair for a while you wont want to ever go back.

I agree... got my smiths on sale for about $60 (60% off). I have had them for almost two years and they are holding up good. Only issue is the lenses seem to easily fall out sometimes.

Only the sliders though. Those are the ones that you can switch the lenses. I have found that this is only a problem when holding them and cleaning them. When they are spread open on my face, or on top of my hat they are in there tight.

I buy only safety glasses. $15 Work great. Go to a Nail and screw store!!
That sounds funny!!!:D but they work really well.!! I still get pissed when I scratch them up but sorry at least I'm no fool paying $$$$ for something that that will get sat on or dropped.
People wise up.

Ditto here.
They make some really decent looking ones with all variety of lenses colors.
Sure they may not look as cute as the $50 and up glasses, but if you want to impress me,
nothing will do it faster than showing you know how to work.
(clean, new boots, high dollar shades etc don't cut it)

I take it you don't fish, If you fish a lot, you come to see the dif between high end glass that is polarized and cheep stuff. Fly fishing for 6 hours strait on a sunny day without the good stuff and your eyes will hate you for a few days afterwards.

A couple weeks ago I spent 12 plus hours on the water with my "cheap stuff" rose lense safety glasses.
He11uva sunburn, but eyes were A OK.
(Actually spent 50 plus hours on the water in 6 days.)

Three words: Revo, Revo Revo. The use extremely high quality optics glass. Try 'em once. You won't go back.
