WHAT TURBO KIT FOR THE PRO?

the best kit i have seen yet is the new SPS turbos kit i think the oil tank on that kit is clean and its not going to have any problems
give this guy a call he will answer any questions about the kit
435-962-2586

I think the Silber Turbo will be the way to go. Super clean kit, no cutting or modifying required. Price is also right, proven performance.

FTR, I don't have his kit nor do I have anything to do with him (never met him) but if I bought a turbo that is the route I would go.

Don't think we know yet

I think Mountain Horse said it best, right now we just don't know. Historically Boondocker's, Silber, and others have had good kits but none of them are really giving us information for on snow testing on the PRO kits.
I have seen some sweet installs, Silber and Stanger's come to mind, but I haven't seen anyone posting actual performance information from on snow testing. Actually, I guess Boondocker's did have a post saying they have had on snow testing so far at 5lbs and 7lbs with no issues and they were working on higher boost levels but that is their pump gas kit and does not require adding additional injectors. The other kits I am aware of are adding injectors to get to higher boost levels but it sounds like that is going to take some time to dial in. No one I am aware of is actually shipping kits!
Even after they start shipping kits it's probably going to take some time to see what kits really work well out in the field. I was told that BD does extensive testing before releasing any kits but that they would be shipping early December.
All that being said I am anxiously awaiting info on the kits as well. I've ridden the last 2 years with a turbo so not having one yet for my Pro is driving me nuts!!

Like Arcteryx said, no one has had very much on the snow testing yet. That said, I would be wary buying a kit that is already shipping, if there are any. Have a little patience, and wait until they are dialed and ready for production. I know BD is currently testing on snow, and I heard a rumor the Justin (Silber), is heading to togwotee to test this week. I'm sure some of the Aero guys are diligently testing there setups as well. Don't buy the first kit available, simply because it's available, is my point. A reputable builder will make you wait until they are 100% satisfied with their product.

Justin Silbernagle (Silber) is in the final stages of his kit. No final release dates have been given since the kit hasnt been tested in the mountains although if everything goes as planed the kit should be on delivery to his customers around the first of December. It is no rumor he will be on the snow doing real world testing later this week and weekend as we have been slammed with snow in the Jackson Hole area. Justin's customer service has by far exceeded my expectations. From answering my calls every time to calling back late at night on a saturday just to hear our progress on the install. His kits are extreamly clean and work awesome as stated above the pro kit requires no cutting or welding whatsoever which will make it look that much cleaner. Give him a call and get a kit on order, you wont be disapointed

I vote Silber Kit too. Ive seen the kit in its final production stages in person and it looks CLEAN. Great looking kit and a great Value as well. The new O ring air box is sweet and the new waste gate actuator is very trick. Just switch springs in it to change boost ranges. TURE bolt on kit is a great improvement from last year also.

that looks like a drewtech dashdaq. the same as what i use to program my 08 f350 with spartan tunes.

i was wondering the same thing. The dashdaq is a great tunning device and can monitor anything you can think of. If it does stay on the sled, How does it hold up to the weather

Further to the Thread Title "What Turbo Kit For The PRO"

I sure have noticed it's gone very quiet on the Western Front.

I havent heard Boo about the HM Turbo nor any other Aerocharger turbo build in several weeks now...which is a bit disconcerting as this was the direction I was heading for my PRO.

I was also surprised to not have any weekend updates on the BoonDocker kit, and am hoping they are testing the mini-intercooler by this stage...I havent heard anything from Silber lately either...

This is like pulling teeth...I am relying on these updates...

that being said, I have odered the BD kit, as it just seems to me they have the necesssary size to afford some serious Due Diligence...and I am not in a rush to be a smaller company's guinea pig.

That being said, I really liked the idea of the HM with the water to air heat exchanger...but they'll apparently need a stand-alone collant system this year...

the saga continues

lol, I noticed the same thing. Months ago they were posting pictures and talking about how great the kits were but when pushed for specific information on boost levels and results, there wasn't much to be heard.
Props to BD for posting video of an actual Pro running boost. I ordered one of their kits as well. Kinda seemed like they weren't overselling or over promising anything and were willing to SHOW and not just TALK about the kit actually running. JMO

I do know that Fastrax sold that CF build with their version of HM kit. Curt said when he took it up for shake-down ride, he made two adjustments on the controller and it was happy. Rode in 3' of fresh until the tanks were empty. Best sled he has ever ridden and wishes he had not sold it.

Just curious if this is a good investment too... or did they jump the gun?

the smaller guys are working just as hard as the big guys they just aren't on the forums telling everyone they got the best stuff. there is alot of stand up guys and companies that are working on this sled

wasn't that fastrax sled a rush conversion. if it was the rush kits have been out for a while.

In fairness...the comment is not whether the smaller manufacturers CAN work it out, nor how they work it out...

The question is where have they all gone? everyone was posting a few weeks ago straight-time...and, again, in fairness - I and many others base our purchase deicsions on information that is gathered from websites such as this. It is a valuable medium for our sport for all aftermarket parts makers.

When I notice a sudden drop in "marketing" here on Snowest by the smaller turbo manufacturers...it forces me to ask why...that is all.

My decision to go with BD is because there has not been as large a void as the others...and they appear to have their stuff together...albeint that Junior _Savedbygrace) still hasnt asnwered my questions regarding intercooler necesity in my case

Yes, the smaller guys are answering the phone, talking to the guy in their shop, repairing, maintenance, upgrading customer sleds, R&D, testing, sell & shipping and eating all at the same time with one or two guys. I don't know how they do it. I know why, they are deeply passionate about sledding, without them, things would get plain.

The FTX kit was a their own version of a basic water-to-air HM kit. The intercooler and turbo came from HM. The rest was all custom. As are most all of the installations they do. That is why there are no come-backs and happy customers over the years (like me). Sorry this turned into a "shameless plug".

You are correct, they are out west testing and perfecting kits this time of the year, especially since its a new kit for a new sled. They need as much testing time as they can get in to assure you guys a quality product, not sit on internet forums all day. Be patient and they will have finished products soon.
