What track would you pick?

Saying that you had unlimited options (ie; already have drop & roll, length etc) what track would you pick for Cascade Mountain snow (cascade concrete) doing mainly boondocking/tree riding with occasional hillclimbs? So agility (not flickability, lol) is a deciding factor. I limited the choices to the Camo Extreme because it seems to work real well in these conditions. Motor is stock.

Camo Extreme 2.5 155 (57lbs)
Camo Extreme 2.5 163 (60lbs)
Camo Extreme 3.0 155 (apparantly this track is not available)
Camo Extreme 3.0 163

also throw in the mix:
Powerclaw 2.6 153
Powerclaw 2.6 162
Polaris 5.1 fbomb trim (no screws)

I have the camo x 2.5 163 and it took a toll on the agility big time. Seems a lot of it has to do with the track wieght spinning makes it harder to throw.

I think I'd go Camo 2.5. The longer the paddle, the slower the track speed and increased rotating mass. In Colorado I actually like the 5.1 for our dry snow (until spring!). But I can understand your conditions.

One thing to consider...trimming the 5.1 paddles (FBomb mod) will probably help in your hard snow. Plus, it lightens the track and reduces rotating mass. The Camo 2.5 is a good seven pounds heavier than the 5.1 before trimming!

for your snow..I would do the 2.5 extreme....for deeper/powder snow..the 3"...but thats me...

I see you are pretty set on the CE, but you may want to consider the Peak 2.5 as well. I am putting a 155 Peak, on mine this season to start (granted I am in Colorado, not the Cascades), but from what I have seen and heard, it should be a pretty good track for a range of snow conditions.

Yeah, I thought about the Peak, but I have heard that they can be pretty scary coming back down the hill.

DiamondDave: I forgot about that as a choice, guess I'll have to throw that in the mix also.

So I have edited the choices up above.

One of the down falls on the Powerclaw would be that you would have to switch drivers. I have also heard that they are lacking braking also.

From my experience the power claw loves harder snow but do skate coming down hills, not a real big deal to me. If it were me I would just trim the polaris track first and try it assuming thats the one you have.

ewww....no wonder you are still on a dragon...bwahahaha..still think the extreme is the better track personally...

You must have a poor memory...

The powerclaw on the Pro is even better than it is on the Dragon. There is a reason why Struther's had 200 sets of drivers made.

In dry snow my pro with the power claw became a trench monster couldnt wait to go back to the 5.1 yes in the spring it works good but I refuse to give up the 5.1 in good snow, it cost me alot of time being stuck, yea yea mabe I just dont know how to ride?
