What top end rebuild kit?

Which top end rebuild kit would you recommend? Seems like it's either Wiseco or SPI. The SPI is so much cheaper, something has to be questionable about it, right?

Some love SPI, some don't, I'm a fan of the Polaris OEM Elko pistons, they cost more than SPI, but the quality is there. I have also run Wiseco's without issues, proper warm up and care of the engine is essential to a long life.

Cool, I'll save the couple hundred bucks I was gonna spend on Wiseco's and put it towards something else. How do you know what size to get? I'm assuming standard? My compression is only 75 in each cylinder so do I need the bigger ones? Thanks

What sled? I'm assuming 700 or 800, which are nikasil cylinders... only one size. If it is hurt or the nikasil is coming off then you have them replated to the stock spec.

ordering pistons is only the first step in the process... First you have to make sure that you cylinders are still good. If they are bad... Send whatever pistons your going to use with the cylinders to get renicked that way they are a matched set. If you dont they just assume your using stock pistons with the stock expansion rate. This is not always correct as aftermarket pistons may expand more or be a slightly different size.

Cool. thanks. pulled the jugs out and cylinders look pretty good to me. I'll order the piston replacement kit and gaskets tonight and get started as soon as they arrive.
It's a 2000 700 engine.

i put in a set of spi pistons in my 700 last summer and have had no issues. But i have noticed that the coating wears off alot quicker the the OEM polaris pistons.
