What to do??

Just looking for some professional advice here...ok, i currently ha a stock 03 900 1M. I like the sled, but its kinda getting old school compared to the new ones coming out. So, should i keep the 1M and do some mods, get an M8, or get a M1000? (im 6'4'' 220lbs, mostly mountain riding) Finances limit me to about an 07-08 for getting an M-series. If keeping the old sled, then whats the best things i can do (within reason) to make it keep up with the newer ones?
Appreciate the input

if your sled runs like a champ why sell it for nothin in this crap market, just buy someone else's used crap......???

add a red button & ride it like you stole it....and start saving a few $$$ towards a almost new sled like 09/10 holdover in a year or two???

I would upgrade to the M. I couldn't believe how much more fun the M was to ride when I got one in 06. You can ride the M so much harder with less effort. You will not regret when you make the change. Selling used sleds for anything is impossible right now, but buying them is nice. If you put money into mods dont plan on getting anything out of them when you do sell the 03. If you can't find an M that works I would keep the 1M and ride it the way it is another year and save for what you want.

Good luck

thanks guys. I think im gonna start looking around for a deal....:D decided that the 1M is too old-school of a design, egronomics, etc. and modding is a personal investment with no returns.
Now, anyone interested in a 03 1M? :D

M1000

Youll get a better deal on a 1000, ive got a 1000 for sale and ill have to give it away to sell it, i honestly like my 05 m7 better than my 1000 but i ride in the black hills most of the time, havent found a place where the power makes up for the weight.

My .02

people that say a m7 beats a m1000 need help and need to stay off m1000. I had a piped 07 m1000 that stomped modded m7's and ported piped m8's I scuffed a piston in it and still beat them. the 09 m1000 stock would beat my 07 and with full pipe and few other mods it is the best easy mod sled on the market. I am usually the heaviest rider in our group as well. 09 and newer is worth the money.

Find a carryover m1000

I have an 04 900 159 and last spring plunged in on a carryover 08 M-1000 with the 162 track. I kept the 900 because of how cheap I got the 1000 and they would not give me anything for the 900, and I just figured someone will always need a spare when we go to the mountains. I also figure I can sell it to someone this winter when riding is good. It will take a day or two to get used to the difference in ride but the new sled is much nicer to ride and has plenty of power. I will do a few mods to my 1000 just like the 900, y pipe, can, vents etc. Nothing drastic but things that will help.

is there some one in this thread that said a m7 beat a m1000??

Just wonderin

Get the M. I have a 03 900 1M that I put too much money into it to sell so I drag it up with me as a back up the last few years. I only tale it out and ride it around the parking lot then put it back in the trailer. The sled feels awkward after riding the new M chassis. When my 1000 was in the shop I rode the M7 instead of the 900. That should tell you a lot! JMHO Good luck on your decision. :beer;

Oh. If your that big…..Get the M1000 you will want the extra torque. I’m 6’3” 225 Pounds. I have a M7, M8 & M1000

I would definetly switch to an m series sled best sled ive ever riden. m1000 all the way. however if money is an issue. an m8 is always an option. but whatever you do. with as big as you are like me 6'3" 225 you'll kick yourself in the teeth if you dont get a 162" track. the 153" trenches to much for us bigger guys.
just my .02 ;)
