What is the phone number or website where I can check Avy Dangers in the snowies?

I see & hear about calling to check the avalanche warning level but I never have been able to find where to go to find out. Where can I find that information on the snowies?

Funny you ask, but there is not such a number. The closest conditions will be the Steamboat Springs, Colorado report. That report is found here:

I called this morning as a matter of fact to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, as well as visited with the Forest Service, to see what it would take to get a Snowy Range assessment.

IMHO....this is the best place for your information,
folks ride all over- everyday and if we can keep them posting and with a little more detailed information (not scare tactics) till things settel down it'd be great.

If you look at the Wyo statistics for avy deaths, there are not a lot of them in the Snowies for whatever reason.

And just how must extra are you willing to pay??? You want to do extreme,,, ya better figure out how to identify the conditions. Should the Game and Fish be responsible for fisherman going out on thin ice??
