I am looking for suggestions. Who has tried the ultimax xs 817 belt? How does it compare to the 060 and the 046?
I like the 060, it just pulls harder but I hate the price tag. Thinking of trying the ultimax. Wanting your opinions. Thanx!

I haven't actually run an XS on a Cat, but have been running them on a Poo 800 for a few seasons an love them. Sounds like it would be comparable to the 060 you are talking about. They are like a high performance tire. Grip the clutches very well for less slippage and great pull.

With the xs817, you get the performance of the 060 with a lower price tag & a warranty. I just mailed out one that was a little torn from last year about a week ago, got it back yesterday. $10 for a brand new belt.

I have had such poor results with cat belts (longevity, not performance) I won't even bother buying them anymore.

The biggest difference I notice with the carlisle belts is a HUGE one to me.

I find that with the carlisle belt, it have a lot of warning, they fall apart slowly, whereas the 060's have exploded on me a number of times with only small amount of warning. I've never had an xs817 grenade.

X2, but if you come from a Cat 046, you will have to clutch for the XS817

thanx for all the info! ill try the xs 817. i take it that it is stickier, and has similer performance of the 060?

No ones had issuse with belt slip, a buddie of mine ran a ultimax belt (not sure which one had a one year warrenty) but it sliped so much he couldnt even load it on his truck deck. I currently run the 060 but if this belt preforms = or better ill have to check it out.

never had a problem, but if he went from something other than the 060, you do need to adjust a bit.

I've gone between the 046, 060, and 817 & never had a problem other than the 817 & 060 drop the r's ~200

If he was having trouble with the sled even going it must have been a translation error from cat to carlisle.

I ran the 060's on my 09 m1000 last year but only got about 300 miles to a belt. But the 046 on my 09 m8 lasted all season 700 miles. The 060 performance was great untill it got hot. It then got sticky and started to rob rpm and performance. But if given proper cooling time between pulls, this belt was awesome. The 046 did not have that heating problem, or atleast not near as bad. I never did try an 817 but may look into it this year.

Quick question, why is it that the 09 crossfire 8 ran a 046, the 09 m8 ran a 046. The 010 crossfire 8 runs a 060, and the 010 m8 runs a 046?
And another question I have, im running a 010 m8 with boondocker pump gas turbo this year, is the 046 still gonna be adequate, or do I need to run the 060?

Any thoughts or info

xs 817 is great but does run about 200rpm less. the belt will out last a 060 even when abusing it. their is another belt to try dayco xtx 10-xtx5032 $117 one year warrenty. last year I was buying the xs 817 for $80 from royal dis now $100 bucks over 20% increase in price. bull S**t

I have had great success with the 817 as well, and like stated about you have some warning when they are going to go down. I blew an 060 so hard last year that the biggest piece I could find was the size of my thumbnail, and it made such a horrendous niose that I was sure I had shelled out the diamond drive. I really prefer the 817 after running both the 046 and the 060.

I have 1500 miles on my original belt (046) but have done almost no mods. I just bought the slp single pipe kit and looking at shift assist and switching springs. With that said I do want to put in a new belt this season, but what adjustments will I need to do from an 046?

i get 1500-over 2,000 miles a season on my 046's, never have blown one. just put a new one on at the begining of every season, and these are all hard miles... unlike my old mt. cat that would eat one every 500 miles or so!!!

Is the 817 deflection pretty close to the 046?

I ran a couple of the ultimax belts on my 900 and didn't like the way they ran. They weren't near as smooth on the shift. More jerky. And really didn't run any longer.

But I would be willing to give the 817 a try. I have a hard time keeping a belt on my m1000 now.

AT, I tried the olc dayco/carlisle belts on my t-cat & didn't like them either, the xs belts are pretty different. Deflection should be the same.

Btw, in running my M8 I never once had a blown belt, with my 1000's, it's a weekly issue (if you don't have the brains to stop & let them cool)

I've found you can ride HARD, as long as you stop often on a 1000.

Same thing here. You have to let them cool. I HATE doing that. I like to ride not sit. But those are the penalties for poor clutching and belt heat.

I will have to give the XS a try.
