What is the best turbo control box

I have a 2007 bd turbo apex with a g28 and a bd box and I was curious what control box you guy's are running on yours and how much you like them. I need a new box so I figured I would see if anything is better than the bd box.

The Boondocker control box with the new simple programming is by far the easiest and most consistent control box available, and they will upgrade your old box for FREE.

Ya I wouldn't mind sticking with the bd box. does anybody in utah or some what close to park city have one they want to sell. I think mine is the older style 12 pin Please let me know a.s.a.p I'm having some serious withdralls

its been brought up a few times and most guys run the attuide box with good results . the boxes that seem to be uesd most are the attuide ( same as pure logic and others just diffrent names) the bd box and a few guys are trying out the RB3 box

Call the guys at Boondocker they can most likely fix your box and reprogram it with the latest program.

I just got an RB3 from Powderlights. From what I'm seeing so far, this is going to be a sweet setup. It has better than stock throttle response on my MCX rear mount. You can raise the rev limiter up to 1000 rpms. It lets you run a little lighter weight on the bottom for quicker spoolup without banging on the rev limiter. You can tune the ignition timing for whatever you want it to do; a little more advance for off idle response and a little less on the top for det resistance. You can tune the accelerator pump for better response as well. I can see this as the ultimate tuner device. The only downside I see is that you need a laptop to make adjustments so the initial setup might not be as easy as the other boxes. Once it's dialed in, it should give you everything you want. Mine is not 100% dialed yet as I've only had it out on one ride. I can see another ride or two and that's all it'll take.

I have to add that Dave from Powderlights has been very responsive with helping me to get this setup for my MCX turbo system. The tech guy Darin from Rapid Bike was also very helpful with answering some questions I had with the overall setup and function of the RB3.

Has anyone tried tuning one of these boxes to a stock sled? are there gains to be made in the stock configuration? would imagine this would open up the market and make the leap to boost smoother for some people? and offer middle of the road improvement etc.

since it is fuel injected, no doubt yammie has left some performance on the table...

When I talked to Darin from Rapid Bike in Canada, he told me that the original application was for normally aspirated sleds. He said that were seeing a horsepower increase but I don't recall the exact number, 5-10 maybe? I'm guessing it would require a different harness to hook up to the sled since the N/A setups don't need a map sensor and they use the TPS for the load calculations. I know the throttle response would be improved on an N/A sled just because of the accelerator pump feature. I believe with some cam and ignition timing changes you could bump up the hp quite a bit. It would be fun to play with on a dyno to see how much you could get out of it.

RB3 info?

Just got to hooking my RB3 up. How does everyone work/setup the brown/grey map select wires? Otherwise a very nice harness, plug and play :) Anyone have a BD apex map? What is everyone doing for timing advance/retard??? How much can we add for how long??? How does the load sensing portion work? 25% = ??? Can that be converted directly to boost/vac psi? If so what range? ie 0-15? Does it consider the tps? Tried it out around the house, more responsive than the PL box. Running out of snow time fast so I don't know how far I will get with it this year :(

Dave F. I heard your building stutter maps/buttons? Let me know when they are ready :) Oh ya if you have a BD map I am very interested :) LOL would rather ride, but tuning is ok also :beer;:beer;:beer;

if i remember right you can go about 2degrees advance on the bottom end then start to pull 1degree off for every pound of boost & i beleave you can set when or at want lbs boost you want it to start pulling the timing like from 2-10lbs. if i remember right 3-5lbs is were you should start pulling timing depending on what fuel you run.very cool box i will get one.:beer;:beer;

I have one for a M1000 That is also NOS capable. That I am selling brand NEW. I live in South Jordan, UT. LEt me know cause I will have it sold soon. Thanks

Mike

The RB3 % is based on what ever map sensor you are using....be it a 2 bar or 3 bar. I am finding out that there are lots of inside things to know when changing these perameters around so it is best to start getting/buying your hardware from someone that can support your tuning or you will be out in the dark trying to get it adjusted correctly. Dave at Powder lites is getting these things all sorted! Thanks Dave for all of the hard work!

I have the MCX box and the only thing I have adjusted is the boost level up to 16-17. Runs awesome, no lag, no issues. We work on them enough already, when it snows we just wanna go ride. 1500k this winter, most responsive sled I have ever had. :)

I have an MCX too. The problem is that it will never run any better than a stock setup when it comes to throttle response. The only tunability you have is with the co setting on the stock computer; that will only adjust the idle. The RB3 allows you to adjust everything. Out of the half dozen turbo'd Apex's I've ridden including my own, none have had a clean-crisp bottom end. Even the several stock Apex's I've ridden haven't had what I'd consider a crisp bottom end. When I say crisp, I mean no stumble off idle and no lean spot when you stab it. You should be able to pin it from an idle and have it rip. You can tune that kind of responsiveness into it with an RB3.

I will say the overall features and tuning functions are not for everyone. If you just want a plug and play setup, guys like Dave can get you setup and you shouldn't have to mess with it much.

RB3 box

You can definately tune the bottom end to be wayyyyy more responsive than the pure logic box. I just put my pure logic box back on my bd apex and it is a very noticable difference. Like TK says you can drop the co's to lean out the idle, but it will be rich after that. The RB3 just seems to be faster to respond. Mash the gas and it snaps while the Pure logic is good, but not as good. It's in its infancy (sp?) but the RB3 is gonna help us all out a pile.

I am very interested in the RB3 box, I just don't want to be screwing around on the laptop trying to get the sled tuned. Dave is claiming he's going to have them setup pretty well out the door after some more testing. If that's the case I will definetly purchase one.

Dave is a man of his word...very pleased with the RB3/Nytro setup...
