what is geo mod?

It has something to do with screwing around with the mounting locations of the front suspension.

According to the guy who did the modification, which he named after himself:der:, it improves things in some situations, and doesn't in others, whatever that means.

For all the normal people out there the pratical effect is it lowers the resale value of your sled and makes it handle weird sometimes.

Lightens the skid up, drill four more holes!
Puts the top rear bolts a little bit ahead of where they are at and moves the stops forward on the bottom. Straightens the leg out some and makes it possible to support the load with less air pressure in the rear shock.

For one, its a mod for the REAR suspension.:face-icon-small-con

It changes the rear upper mount to stand the rear shock up slightly more vertical. Its supposed to help with tranfer. And I highly doubt it lowers the resale value since it can be put back to stock if wanted with moving two bolts.

I have seen a few people talking about a geo mod, what the heck is it?

Do a search on it, there is a ton of threads about the Geo Mod, also what are you riding, the Geo Mod for 05, 06, and 07 is different than the 2008 to 2011!

Hope this helps,
RYan

I have not even bought a sled yet I have been looking into buying an m and have seen it in a few adds

first of all GEo is a mechanical engineer

2nd of all he has found a way to increase the preload of the stock float shocks to give you better rebound dampening on the trail and to make the m skid trench less, for example i'm 250lbs without gear and with the GEo mod I can run my float pressure at 120PSi which gives me better rebound dampening on the whoops ,a nd less trenching for zero dollars it changes the geometry of the stock sled, I did this on my last 4 sleds with nothing but positive results. 05 m7 162 with Cutler dragon motor, 09 m1000 , 09 m8 153 with boonie turbo, and my current sled 09 162 Sp with Twisted turbo. nothing but positive results

also elvis should not get any credit towards this

elvis 1280 is an ok guy but all he did was posts some pics of GEo's mod to his sled, then he felt entitled to take the credit away from GEO's original idea, typical hacker. Just saying give credit where credit is due.

I liked the Geo Mod on the rear of the skid and then drop the front arm in the tunnel by drilling that lower hole out in the steel bracket. Really lighten the skis up on anything with a Float skid. My friends 11' HCR was a tank until we dropped the front mount and moved the rear up and foreward. Then it was super fun to ride.
