what is a reasonable charge for rent my enclosed trailer

I know my insurance will cover anything that I tow even if it isn't mine. If you do decide to let him use it free or not I would ask if his insurance will cover the trailer in an accident.

$0

I've lent my truck and trailer out countless times to friends. Is there wear and tear sure. Am I going to cry or make a big deal over a few bucks no. Bring everything back in one piece. If you break it, fix it. Buy me a Beer or dinner for the trouble and we're square.

If you abuse my stuff or take advantage of the kindness, there will be no second chance.

I let a friend borrow mine a couple of times and just when I thought it was too often. My trailer came back with new tires and aluminum wheels. Someone who understands the value of things will make things right.

Free.99

1 condition - you break it, you buy it. I've lent my trailers out for thousands of miles without collecting a dime. It's a friend, not a customer IMO.

Exactly what I was going to say. You don't charge friends.

There's no right or wrong answer. I've lent my trailer out several times to several different people. Most people I know well, others I should of known better but felt bad saying no. Sometimes it comes back perfect, other times with a huge scratch from the front of the trailer to the back, blown tire from going 85 on the freeway in 95 deg weather, broken triming on the inside, most recently a huge dent. I've never chargeed anyone, the guy offered to pay for the dent but said he didn't know anything about it (which is possible because he had it parked on the street). I told him not to worry about it since he didn't know about it. Probably being to nice. If I was him I would of made sure I paid regardless if it was my fault or not simply because it was in his care. What ever. ..

Bottom line for me, I'm probably done lending my trailer.

I lent out my trailer to a friend of a friend...yep was a awkward moment when a guy I barely new asked to borrow it. He wanted to take it on a 3000 mile trip to move his new GF home. He also wanted it for a month.

I told him to put a pair of new tires on it and he could. I had already just replaced two of them so only two left to buy. He stammered and said...."Why would I buy you two new tires?" I said.........."why should I borrow you my trailer?"

He brought it back detailed and 4 matching new tires and told me if I EVER needed anything he would help me out to.

I see nothing wrong with a wear and tear payment for a ONE TIME USE. BUT, some guys will just keep on throwing yah a 100 bux when ever they need it rather than step up and buy one if they need it more than once and that I would not like.

Flip a coin. 50/50 it will turn out to be a good deal.
I've become more liberal at loaning stuff to friends than my ole man taught me. Maybe because I am doing well financially and don mind sharing unlike when I was growing up and every penny was hard earned and accounted for.
But I'm done loaning stuff out again. Got hosed by a friend last weekend.
Went to a friends cabin with my kids and his, snowmobiling.
His kid borrowed my kids sled. They are friends. 7 yrs old.
Kid ran into 3 trees and a holed my older boys sled.
You would think his dad would have just loaded it up and returned it fixed. Nope.
I'm holdin the bag with a bunch of bent parts you can't buy anymore.
He said sorry and btw you can stay at the cabin whenever you want.
Maybe I should stay at the cabin and when I drive my wheeler through the side of it, say sorry!
Don't loan it out. Especially if its not a good friend.
