What insurance for my sleds?

So I'm shopping for insurance on my sleds, it ran out a while back on the old one and I need it on the new one due to a loan.

Any suggestions? I'm looking at snowmobile.progressive.com and sledinsure and a few other places online and am going to go talk to a local insurance agent tomorrow.

I use Foremost through a Farmer's agent here in Laramie. About the best price for the coverage I have found.

I used to underwirte for Farm Bureau Financial Services and Foremost was a brokerage I could go thorugh. They do not knowingly accept any modified snowmobiles. THough they are very cheap. Even though I'm no longer associated with FBFS I still think they have one helluva product. I always like the fact that they were the only ones out there that classify boats, snowmobiles, ATV's etc as an Auto under their policy. This means you can go and rent any of them, damage them and they'll cover the damage to the vehicle. The only thing they wouldn't cover is loss of use to the business (days out of service that it can be making money for repair) can come in handy if you bang oneup and want to ride still. Or friends or relatives stop by and you want to rent one for them to ride.

I just put insurance on my 07 RMK 600 last week through State Farm for $409 a year. I'm 26 and a clean driving record in the last 5 years. I went with monthly payments does anyone know if you can cancel in the spring?

Most places will let you but they won't refund anything back after it's been in force for so many days. That's the way a buddies Harley was written from State Farm and that's the way FBFS did their policies when I was with them. But could vary from state to state. Look at your original policy declarations.

i pay under a hundred with full coverage with a 250 duductablle on a 1998 rmk700 for six months i am with desmet farmers mutual not sure if that is just a south dakota one or not

i got a quote from our local farmers ins. and for liability for an 04 summit 800 with me as the primary driver (18 years old) and they quoted me like 1200 so if a ficus fell on it i would be ok lol....and for full coverage and a 500$ deductable was 2100....F^% that! i told them i would go and burn it before i got that crap....shoulda told them i was 60 heh heh heh them it might have gone down....lol

03' REV 800 with a $250 deductable I got for $210 a year through Country insurance.
I also have 3 cars, camper and my house with them so I did get a multi-policy discount.

Farmers Ins owns Foremost Ins Company. Best to go to Farmers Agent. You buy your ins. based on the actual cash value of the sled,[blue book.]Most of the time you are asked the value and thats the amount used, If you insure it for to little thats the amount you will get for theft or total loss. [Over insure] at the time of theft or total loss you will only get the ACV.[ blue book] your paying extra $$$ you will not get in return. Have mods? must not list the actual mods but put a dollar value on mods and add this amount to the ACV.of the sled befor mods [stock], be prepared to prove to adjuster in the event of theft, that you actually had mods ,photos, receipts ect. of the additional features added. Your rate will be based on value, cc, driving record ,age, credit score, prior losses. The higher ded you choose the lower the rate. Check the savings sometimes its not worth it. Ask about discounts. Foremost pays its claims but not a dime more or less than they owe have your agent help structure your policy.

I have had Allstate on every sled I have owned and I have actually had a large claim so I know how they handle it. I totalled a sled a couple of years back, they let me buy it back for cheap and they paid me in 3 days after the dealership gave me the estimate to fix it.

When it comes to insurance its not all about the price per year but what happens when you do have a problem. I also have my current sled insured with them and the nice thing is I told them what it was worth since it has some mods and they just adjust the premium accordingly for the amount of coverage I want. This way I don't get screwed with them telling me they are only covering some low blue book amount for a stock sled when mine is not stock.

It does not take much to total out a sled or for someone to steal it. I would never own a sled that was not insured. If you are shopping for insurance it is also a good idea to get some medical coverage as part of it so if you get hurt and lets say need an airlift you don't have to worry about your health insurance sticking it to you for doing an "extreme/dangerous activity"
